First, I failed to properly express my gratitude to you, Randy, in my prior post. The add-in that you created is tremendously useful. Thank you.

After a bit of trial and error, I found that =RCHGETYAHOOQUOTES(M25,"l1",,NOW(),) , where M25 is CAD=X, causes Excel to freeze intermittently while it attempts to pull data from q1.finance.vip.ac4.yahoo.com.

It's possible that some of the other SMF Add-in functions were also reaching out to that address and this is just the first one I've found.

Thanks again,
Heath

Late on Tuesday, I actually heard that Verizon Fios was having problems (in NJ) connecting to certain sites. I'm aware of others using Fios having random problems with certain sites. Anyhow. all started working fine for me again the next day (after Verizon figured out there issues).

Hi,

Thanks all for this information.

I guess it's a Yahoo Finance problem, since as of 2 days ago, my spreadsheet takes an eternity to update quotes.

I just tried the template from the files area and it's almost
instantaneous. I refreshed quotes several times with the same quick
response.

For those of you that have delays -- what kinds of quotes are you getting:
US stocks, foreign stocks, futures, currencies, delayed quotes, real-time
quotes, etc.?

U.S. stocks - current prices, ITM1, ITM2, ITM3, OTM1, option last price, ask and bid. About 6 stock symbols. It's taking about 10-15 minutes, sometimes a little faster.

I am having similar problems with Yahoo (this is not the first time they have done something to slow down the process and otherwise cause Excel to run erratically). I retrieve mostly delayed US stocks, ETF's and option quotes. This is very frustrating.

Well, the original message was on the RCHGetYahooQuotes() function, which
has nothing to do with options. RCHGetYahooQuotes() gets a CSV file, with
as much data as was requested in a single Internet access.

Options are retrieved on a web page by web page basis, which will be
slower. Even more so if there are more delays than normal in Yahoo
response time. For each stock and each time period, you need to get another
web page.

Stockcharts agreement with their data provider is that they can not distribute the raw data. They do display a small portion of the data via the past data link but, it is only for debugging.

I got this from Chip Anderson while taking a class from them this summer.

MSN' StockScouter seems to change from time to time. At least I'm not able to retrieve the StockScouter Rating any more.

Any assistance appreciated! Also, the built-in function RCHGetElementNumber("MSFT",543} no longer appears to work. THANKS!

Note: Up until recently, I was using:
=RIGHT('smfGetTagContent("http://investing.money.msn.com/investments/stock-price?symbol="&A6&"&ocid=qbeb","span",-1,"How StockScouter Works"),15)

I just tried element #543 with MSFT and it worked fine for me -- do you
have the updated element definitions from the "Works in Progress" folder?
MSN changed their website structure at the end of April.

I'm using SMF lite for US and European stocks and they all take a lot of time (10-15 seconds) to refresh.
