I retrieve data on about 40 companies using the template file called SMF-Template-Yahoo-Key-Statistics. I use a macro which copies tickers in Column A into the template and then copies the page into a new page titled with the corresponding ticker.

Until today this macro has been running quickly and successfully on Excel 2007. I updated to Excel 2010 today and its now running very slow and most of the time stalling before completion. Have you come across this problem before? any advice would be much appreciated.

File attached.

Thanks and regards, Andrew

Most likely a temporary issue with Yahoo. Were you just running it? This
time of morning can be sporadic with Yahoo, because of maintenance and
updates that they do overnight.

Given the nature of what you're doing, I would think the
smfUpdateDownloadTable macro might be a better way to go (see the LINKS
area of the group for more info).

What kind of processor do you have? Go to the File tab, Options, Advanced in Excel 2010 and make sure the Enable Multi Threaded Calculation setting is appropriate for your processor. When I used to run excel 2010 on an old pentium IV, it would bog down to a crawl when multi-threaded calc was enabled. For multi-core, make sure the settings make sense. This has helped me in the past, but your problem may be something different.

Do a few filters on the XLS file that was distributed in the add-in ZIP
file. You should find elements for most of those in there.

Hi Randy

I'm trying to use your addin in excel 2010, but am getting this error.
#VALUE!

See screenshot of the error i'm getting
http://s13.postimage.org/yxpzc9w3r/smfaddin.jpg

I installed it via options -> addins..
Created a new workbook and followed the steps here:

http://www.traineetrader.com/importing-stock-quotes-to-excel-using-smf-add-in/

Any ideas?

Thanks!

You're using the wrong characters for the double quotes on the string...

I've been using the "1000 tickers" worksheet for a couple of months now with no issues. Late last week when I hit the "Refresh Data" button, I received the error message "Automation Error Unspecified Error". Has anyone run into this issue before?

I've not seen it...

Hi Randy (and all others),

Great addin you have here, truly impressed.

I'm currently trying to use the RCHGetHTMLTable function to retrieve information from ADVFN, namely the key ratios. This website seems to have most ratios in an easy to review format. However I'm having all sorts of problems getting the function to work. An example of the function is below:

-----------------------------------------------------
=RCHGetHTMLTable("http://au.advfn.com/p.php?pid--=financials&symbol=NASDAQ%AAPL", "Yesterday's Close",-1,"",1)
----------------------------------------------------

I've tried variations of the above with very little success.

Any ideas?!

Your URL is totally hosed. The two hyphens destroy it, and the percentage
in the middle of the ticker symbol makes it invalid. Try:

=RCHGetHTMLTable("
http://au.advfn.com/p.php?pid=financials&symbol=NASDAQ:AAPL", "Yesterday's
Close",-1,"",1)
