A big thank you to Randy! This problem just started for me last Friday afternoon and I was freaking out. Really appreciate you figuring it out and posting a solution. Like Jose, it didn't work for me just by adding C/smf as trusted. I had to unblock the .XLA file as well. Thanks again!

I removed the c\SMF from the trusted list. According to the MS description is to big of a security exposure. Only unblocking the file worked for me.

The only thing you may need to do to resolve this issue is to "unblock" the RCH_Stock_Market_Functions.xla file.

How do you do that? Go to the SMF Add-in folder, right click on the file, then under Properties > General tab, check the Unblock box. You will need admin privileges or login as admin to do this.


Apparently, after the security update, some file types including xla and xls that were downloaded from the internet are blocked by default from opening.


In my case, nothing else and no other combination of things worked. It is not necessary to add the SMF Add-in folder to the trusted locations list.


I have Windows 10 and Excel 2010.
