Using the SMF add-ins:

1) Is there any way to download technical data from StockCharts.com? I seek historical values for RSI-14 and the various Stochastics (Full, Fast, Slow). If one is a PRO subscriber, presumably it is possible, but I just need this data once for a study.

2) How about another source for the same historical data?

I don't see a way to extract the technical analysis data from
StockCharts.com.

I've used the ta-lib add-in in the past to generate technical analysis data
items:

Thanks for the StockCharts confirmation and the reference to ta_lib. Much appreciated.

I am using Excel 2013 on Windows 10. My version of the SMF add-in is 2.1.2016.09.02

I tried to turn on logging, using the SMF contest menu SMF => Logging => Open Log File. Windows 10 immediately says that Excel is no longer responding and terminates Excel.

"Open Log File" doesn't turn on logging, it opens the existing log file.
You want to use the "Enable" option to turn on logging.

It could be the file doesn't exist yet and is causing your crash?
Otherwise, no clue as to what the cause might be for the crash...?

I selected Enable, then tried to open the log file. Same crash. How do I determine if it exists? Where is it and what is its name?

Just enabling it won't create it. It just allows the add-in to append log
entries. You would need to actually use a function that gets data from the
Internet. For example:

=RCHGetYahooQuotes("MMM","l1")

...allows this to show up when I open my log file:

Time Stamp Duration Called URL
2017-02-14 12:59:54 0.0898
http://download.finance.yahoo.com/d/quotes.csv?s=MMM&f=sl1&e=.ignore

Enabling logging should append data to this file in the SMF add-in folder:

smf-log.csv

...and that's the file that would be opened.

There was text in that file but it was not created by the add-in. The text format broke Excel. I deleted it, did some logging, and opened it (via the context menu). That worked. Thanks for the help!

Randy,

Is there a way to get option quotes like we can get Yahoo quotes that doesn't cause the entire spreadsheet to have to be updated?

Sorry, no. All of the options are done by extracting data from web pages,
instead of being provided via a CSV file.
