#NAME? usually means the function can't be found. Are you sure the add-in is activated in the add-in manager?

Hi Randy,

When I downloaded the most recent version of the SMF add-in, I lost most if not all the Yahoo Mutual Fund RCHGHETNUMBER Functions. Among the most important functions for me are;

Fund Name
Fund Category
Fund Overall Morningstar Rating
Standard Deviation
Sharpe Ratio
Worst 1 Year
Best 1 Year
Fund Holdings Overall Composition -- Cash Fund Holdings -- Overall Composition -- Stocks Fund Holdings -- Overall Composition -- Bonds Fund Holdings -- Overall Composition -- Other
Fund Profile -- Fees -- Fund -- Annual Report Expense Ratio

Is there a fix coming to restore these functions, or have recent Yahoo url changes blocked access.

I did see some workarounds that you suggested for other members. Can much of the data I listed above be brought in with RCHGGetyahooquotes. If so, how. Is there a list key words of key words that work with RCHGGetyahooquotes?

Oddly, when I use my laptop excel version, which I did not update, I believe RCHGETNumber works. Should I just copy over the old files to my desktop?

Sorry to give such a long list of issues. Any help would be appreciated. Franl;y, I don't know how you keep up with all of this.

Best Regards,

Harry

The function calls actually broke last month, when Yahoo switched over to
dynamic builds of HTML tables using data retrieved via a JSON call.

I've listed work-arounds for some in the group, but don't have time to do
every single one. I'd rather spend the time redefining the elements.

Right now, I've got a list of about 1200 JSON field names for mutual funds.

I'm hoping to redefine the elements, but it will take time.

Of those you list, nName is about the only thing that can be retrieved
with RCHGetYahooQuotes(). The list of available items would be in
documentation of the function on the add-in website.

It shouldn't work, as far as I know. Unless you're picking up cached
copies of old web pages.

Sorry to give such a long list of issues. Any help would be appreciated.

Yahoo has been a problem lately.

Randy,

It appears this page was changed over the weekend. Using your updated tool, is there a way to get the entire table containing "Last Price" on this link?

https://finance.yahoo.com/quotes/%5EIXIC,%5EDJI,GM,IBM,HPQ,AAPL/view/view_0 https://finance.yahoo.com/quotes/%5EIXIC,%5EDJI,GM,IBM,HPQ,AAPL/view/view_0

Thanks for your untiring effort to create and maintain your Add-In.

There is no table delivered within the source code of the web page. It is
built dynamically using JSON data.

Sorry to be such a bother, but after re-downloading the latest add-in version, for some reason, I've lost my Morningstar mutual fund functions such as 4717 net stocks etc.

Obviously, I've fouled everything up, but I'm certain I've installed the add-in correctly.

Any suggestions or quick work arounds.

More details please. I have no idea what "such as 4717 net stocks" means...

I've been using the SMF add-in for years. I only use it once or twice a week. I updated to the latest Excel 2013 version last week. SMF is no longer working. Have tried downloading new SMF files, etc., can't get it to work. A couple of times I've been able to get the

=RCHGetElementNumber("Version")

to display the correct version, but it mostly it just displays #NAME?

I don't know if this problem is the result of the Excel update, or the new SMF files, or something else. Anyone else having this issue?

Thanks,
T

Typically, #NAME? on an add-in function means the add-in is not active. The
first thing to do is check the add-in manager and see if it is checked
there.

There was a Microsoft security update in August that affected a lot of
people, as it prevented "downloaded" add-ins from loading at EXCEL
start-up. That cause people to have to re-active the add-in every time they
restarted EXCEL. Microsoft had a work-around for the issue:
