As a retired sys engineer ( UCLA) I have to sympathize w/yahoo.

Probably a bug fix went bad, and they have to fix the fix, but also clean
the data.
That's one date bad for all those entries, I wouldn't want to be the dba....

And remember , something like 30% of all fixes cause another problem -

Thank you for the G URL code (along with all of the other code you have contributed). Unfortunately, G's history requires cleaning as it includes a number of dates with close price only. Also, the lack of adjusted data is a deal killer for me; however I'm probably in the minority on that score. I use a paid service for my usual charting work. My Y data usage is backtesting for which I require EOD trading date and adjusted close.

I've had a Yahoo backup project on my list for nearly a year a now. I started getting "antsy" about it with the Y portfolio hiccups following the V takeover. I finally got busy on it late last week because I had a "feeling" I was running out of time.I've been coding an application specific wrapper to support calls for RT data to Y and G and historical data to Y and Quandl's Quote Media (premium package).

Yesterday, I finished beta testing the RT for Y and G and the historical for Y. Doing some more testing with the Y history today turned up the missing data for Monday which was a "hmm". I had planned on waiting for the weekend to run exhaustive comparative testing in my model when data is likely to be most stable. I've been debating when to pay up for the Quote Media data to complete my backup testing. It looks like it needs to be soon.

I hope this is simply a burp but as I've remarked here previously, I do not see a business case for Y to continue providing free historical data. While I like free, I would hope that Y would go to a fee-based service rather than discontinue the service. I have searched far and wide for comparable adjusted data and Quote Media seems to be it. Unfortunately, the QM package ($50/month) is limited to EOD data for stocks. It does not include Open End Mutual Funds which I occasionally use for ETF back-fill when I need long dated history.

Those are the reasons I've never pursued a function for the Google
historical quotes.

I've never been impressed with Google's option quotes data either.
