Is it just me or smfGetYahooPortfolioView is returning data on just 56 names? anything beyond that is ignored...

Not sure what you mean by "names"? Ticker symbols? If so, I just opened one
of my workbooks that gets data for over 300 ticker symbols, and it works
fine.

Possibly an issue with a ticker symbol?

My IBD data died today (I am a subscriber).
Through excel I get

and when I go through IE (or google) I get a prompt to check if I am a robot or not.
any ideas for a work-around?

I just tried the template for the "IBD Checkup" page and it worked fine for
me.

You may have a (temporary) lockout on your IP address? Were you doing a lot
of retrieval requests? IBD does have a 24-hour limit on stock checkups. I
think it is 300?

I publish lists of free Kindle books from Amazon and run into a temporary
lockout when I do about 500 requests in a short amount of time. So I've
learned to do things in batches of 400 or less. The Amazon lockout is in
place for about 20 minutes, and puts up a captcha during that time to
verify I am not an automated process.

hmmm, I've been wondering about folks sucess with IBD since the beginning of the year. Do to some change i could not log in to IBD using Excel's get web data button. the web pages would not render though the login process. tried with three different computers and with excel 2010 and 2016. i reaxched out to ibd, saying that i was a long-time subscribed and needed help. and that if they can't help, i'd quit. they never helped, so i quit.
c=glad it's still working for some folks.
Mike

Hi,
Since the recent dialogue about BarChart portfolie vview functionality no longer working, i'm wondering if it possible to pull selected stock info directly from the different BarChart pages?
such as from
https://www.barchart.com/stocks/quotes/ISRG https://www.barchart.com/stocks/quotes/ISRG

https://www.barchart.com/stocks/quotes/ISRG/technical-analysis https://www..barchart.com/stocks/quotes/ISRG/technical-analysis

https://www.barchart.com/stocks/quotes/ISRG/opinion https://www.barchart.com/stocks/quotes/ISRG/opinion

https://www.barchart.com/stocks/quotes/ISRG/earnings-estimates https://www..barchart.com/stocks/quotes/ISRG/earnings-estimates

https://www.barchart.com/stocks/quotes/ISRG/profile https://www.barchart.com/stocks/quotes/ISRG/profile

etc.
I realize that for one ticker, that's several pages that need to be retrieved and interrogated. but doing that for a modest list of tickers may not take too long.

my question would be how to get the ticker info off of the web page information. i can see, using the chrome developers pane that the ticker's info is there, but just buried down somewhere.
would the RCHGetTableCell funciton be appropriate, or the RCHGetWebData function, or perhaps something else? Then one could use the UpdateDownloadTable capabilities to populate a list.

thoughts or comments?

thanks much,
Mike

It would depend on whether the data is within the source code of the web
page or whether the web page is built dynamically from a JSON file (which
they are now protecting).

The "opinion" and "technical-analysis" pages do have elements defined for
them. See:

http://ogres-crypt.com/SMF/Templates/RCHGetTableCell-Template-BarChart-Technical-Signals.xls

You can always quickly check the definition of an element:

=RCHGetElementNumber("Definition", 1216)

....which returns:

BarChartTech;Moving Average -- 1;=smfGetTagContent("
https://www.barchart.com/stocks/quotes/~~~~~/technical-analysis","td",2,">Average
Volume",,,,1)
