Hi Randy .... Just got my invoice for the EOD data service I use with
my charting software, and found myself looking around

for data options in general. Simply to see if anything new and
interesting has turned up.

One of the threads lamenting Yahoo's and Google's API changes a year ago,
pointed in the direction of IEX.

If I'm not mistaken, IEX is Brad Katsuyama's group, referenced in Lewis'
Flash Boys.

And the same exchange that has tied in with Interactive Brokers recently.

I'm not a programmer, but this looks interesting and thought you and
everyone here may be interested as well.

Please let me know whether you think this has promise for what many of us
are here for.

My searches suggest you may already be aware of this .... but I can't find
your bottom line assessment ...

<https://iextrading.com/developer/#what-is-the-cost> What is the cost?

Free.

<https://iextrading.com/developer/#is-the-api-reliable> Is the API
reliable?

<https://iextrading.com/developer/performance> Very reliable. We use the
API to run many of our own applications.

<https://iextrading.com/developer/#do-i-need-paperwork> Do I need
paperwork?

<https://iextrading.com/developer/docs/#getting-started> None. No
paperwork, no login.

<https://iextrading.com/developer/#can-i-redistribute-your-data> Can I
redistribute your data?

<https://iextrading.com/developer/docs/#attribution> Yes. For free.

<https://iextrading.com/developer/#is-the-data-real-time> Is the data real
time?

<https://iextrading.com/developer/docs/#stocks> Yes.

<https://iextrading.com/developer/#are-there-request-limits> Are there
request limits?

<https://iextrading.com/developer/docs/#usage> No limits. We throttle
requests per IP, but you should get over 100 per second.

<https://iextrading.com/developer/#do-you-support-pushing-data> Do you
support pushing data?

Yes. <https://iextrading.com/developer/docs/#websockets> WebSockets. SSE on
the way.

I've looked at IEX several times in the past. The only disadvantage at this
point is that they are geared towards providing data in a JSON format.
Because they have a batch quotes output process, I have considered doing a
routine for IEX that is similar to the smfGetYahooPortfolioView() function.

Lately, I've been spending time on other areas of interest, so the add-in
hasn't been a big priority. And I keep hoping that it will be an obsolete
method of getting data in the near future...
