As I posted earlier: Feel confident the problem is with YAHOO. I use PSM (Personal Stock Monitor) from DTlink. It also gets data from YAHOO and has had the same bad data problem recently. Perhaps someone(s) are abusing the capacity of the YAHOO servers?

Is there another solution to obtaining quotes from MSN for ETF?

You could try:

=0+smfGetTagContent("
http://investing.money.msn.com/investments/etf-list/?symbol=
"&Ticker,"span",-1,"'Last'")

...but I'm not sure how reliable the search string is.

smfGetOptionQuotes gets wrong data

I am getting the wrong quote for:

=smfGetOptionQuotes("ADBE JAN 2012 $35 Put","b",0,"Y")

Getting 5.35 vs 6.10 as of Thursday, Jul 14th at 10:30am MST

It appears that the 5.35 is for the ABBE JAN 2012 $34 Put.

This spreadsheet was working previously but now is getting wrong numbers. Ideas?

Glen

Possibly -- see items 9.4.2 and 9.5 in the "Links" area of the group.

I just tried your formula here and got the correct quote.

Morningstar Premium Porfolio Holdings

I am trying to use RCHGetHTMLTable to capture the portfolios for closed end funds, both basic and premium holdings for all 100 positions.

This is an example for the symbol AOD
http://portfolios.morningstar.com/fund/details?region=USA&t=AOD&culture=en-us

Any ideas?

Good news and bad news.

Bad news -- the tables on the web page are produced dynamically, so the data
is not within the source code of the web page for the add-in to extract the
data from.

Good news -- this appears to get the file available from the export button
on the web page:

=smfGetCSVFile("
http://portfolios.morningstar.com/fund/holdingsExport?t=AOD&exportType=details
")

I figured it out when AOD was the referenced symbol. But could not make it work when the fund symbol was a variable in a cell. For example in cell B2=AOD

smfGetCSVFile("http://portfolios.morningstar.com/fund/holdingsExport?t="&$B$2&exportType=details") Obviously I have "" incorrect, but how would it work?

Works fine for me -- I suspect you have some type of issue with the
concatenation. Usually in such cases, I rearrange the URL parameters so the
ticker is the last thing, as it makes it easier to do the concatenation. For
example:

=smfGetCSVFile("
http://portfolios.morningstar.com/fund/holdingsExport?exportType=details&t=
"&B2)

...which works for me when B2 contains AOD. However, there could be
something going on at Morningstar that would mean another symbol may not
work -- for example, the export file may be created when you GO to the web
page. The add-in might bypass that process by trying to go directly to a
file that hasn't been created. But I don't know of any other ticker symbols
to test with.

I changed the symbol to UTG and it worked. But the details on the basic web page provides these columns
Holdings, Ticker, Sector, Style, % Portfolio Weight, Shares Owned, Shares Change, Latest Analyst Report, Country, YTD Return, %P/E

The formula returns these columns: Holdings, Weightings, Type, Ticker, Shares Owned,Shares Change, Sector, Price, Day Change,Day high/low, Volume

I am looking to determine the specific countries to avoid the PIGS part of the Eurozone. Therefore I need the country. Do you have another way either with Morningstar or a different source? Morningstar provides the region breakdown, but not a summary of the country breakdown.

Are you not logged in properly for the add-in?

There is another site that summarises the country, here is the URL
http://www.cefconnect.com/Details/Summary.aspx?ticker=AOD

Under the Tab "Portfolios Charastics" in the lower right od the page is "Country Allocation" The next line is "As of 4/30/2011 reported by fund sponsor" The this table

Country %Portfolio
USA 36.97%
Norway 8.47%
Brazil 7.89%
Sweden 7.34%
Switzerland 6.55%
UK 6.42%
France 5.98%
Finland 4.92%
South Korea 3.82%
Australia 2.98%

This is free site that gets the data from Morningstar. I possibly can do a GetTableCell, that would require that I know all of the countries to do a cell lookup. A GetHTMLTable would be more efficient.

Any ideas?

What are you using for the columns? Can you just transpose it?

Re: smfPricesByDates showing $505,480,256 for today's price

It seems these erroneous and temporary results have some pattern to them.
Stocks are always 505xxxxxx. Mutual funds always 503xxxxxx. When the
RCHGetYahooQuotes array entered formula returns these errors, it also returns 0
for indices.

In addition I have noticed that the number returned is always the same for each
ticker BAC 505545600, KMX 505544704 etc.

SMFForceRecalc returns correct info

getyahhooquotes dividend code d

Hello all - Am trying to pull dividend data using the smf_addin symbols.
The following is extracted from an Excel worksheet.
l1 t8 d r1 q e7 e8
Tick1 Price Target Div Pay Ex EPS11 EPS12
MRO 31.03 40.78 21.70 Jun 10 Jul 1 4.28 4.13

The d symbol is giving the trailing dividend yield, not the actual dividend. The dividend dates also appear to be incorrect.

Yahoo statistics for MRO (Marathon Oil)
Dividends & Splits
Forward Annual Dividend Rate4: 1.00
Forward Annual Dividend Yield4: 3.20%
Trailing Annual Dividend Yield3: 21.70
Trailing Annual Dividend Yield3: 69.50%
5 Year Average Dividend Yield4: N/A
Payout Ratio4: 23.00%
Dividend Date3: Jun 9, 2011
Ex-Dividend Date4: May 16, 2011

Your complaint should be directed to Yahoo -- the add-in is just giving you
what Yahoo is sending. What you are seeing is how Yahoo (or their data
provider) chose to handle the spinoff's affect on the data. The ex-dividend
and payable dates are for the spinoff -- the most recent distribution on the
stock.

how to use smfForecRecalculation macro?

Dear Sir,

Using =RCHGetYahooQuotes(A2:A100,B1:M1,,NOW()), I can type F9 to refresh all the data.

I am wondering if you have a formula, so the cells can refresh automatically.

I am wondering if smfForceRecalculation macro is this type of formula I want.

Thank you!
P.S. I love the SMF-addin you created, beautiful!
Will

Check the "Links" area of the group for information on the
smfForceRecalculation macro.

To refresh automatically, you'd need to write your own VBA timing routine,
which would invoke the smfForceRecalculation macro. Check the message
archives. It has been discussed before.
