WIT Folded a few years ago. There just wasn't enough interest. I still
find part of it useful. Valuesoft became part of a larger company, and the
price went up a bunch-too rich for my blood.

I still use the old version of WIT & Valuesoft, sort of, but only use the
two stability measures, and none of the other features. It looks like this

In my hacked version, and pulls its symbol list from the TtP-S Selection
Universe.
I expect it will die one of these days, but keeps on chugging along. Tom
converted it to work with Randy's SMF not to long before he closed the board
that supported it.
It provides a couple of stability measures to add to the rest of the metrics
used in TtP-S to select stocks.

Hi Randy,

I am having some trouble extracting MSCI index data from the following website. Eg. below is MSCI world index. I have tried RCHgettablecell, smfgettagcontent, and RCHgetwebdata but to no avail. I could e.g. put the date in a column in excel and refer to that. So if yesterday was "2014/05/14", i could use that as a search string and extract a price i figured, but it is not working. Any thoughts? Thanks a lot.

To get the 2nd variable period performance (i.e. "1 week") :

=RCHGetTableCell("http://www.indexq.org/index/MS001.php",2,"MTD","<tr")

To get the 2nd annual performance (i.e. "2004") :

=RCHGetTableCell("http://www.indexq.org/index/MS001.php",2,">2013","<tr")

The holdings style chart is javascript at
http://portfolios.morningstar.com/fund/summary?t=FMXKX.

Is there any other place where these holding styles can be parsed by SMF?
If that's not possible, is there any alternative - I'm trying to keep track
of the weighted average of holding styles across a portfolio.

Thanks for your help,
Andrei

See this workbook:

SMF-Morningstar-Holding-Style-Example.xls

...in the "Requested Samples" folder of the FILES area of the group. It's
over three years old, but still works. :)

It works! It is parsing a JavaScript variable, interesting...

Thanks, Randy. Good stuff!
