I am using Windows Vista and Excel 2010.
Recently I had to uninstall and re-install SMF add-in. I do get the correct version assurance that the add-in was installed (Version 2.1.2017.02.15). I now want to use the template for Morningstar Financials in an excel workbook. The template does work (albeit slowly) but when copied to another workbook without changes, all I get is 'Error'. I have checked security settings and excel add-in settings and everything appears good. Any idea of what have I overlooked or how to correct the problem.

Second issue: Everytime I use RCHGetElementNumber, excel goes into 'Not Responding' but the cursor indicates that it is processing and the processing can sometimes take a minute or two for a single element. How can I speed this up?

Thank you for your attention to my problems and your assistance.

I agree that it looks OK so far.

Which template, specifically? The only one I see on the website for
financials is the one using the CSV file.

Can you give me a sample formula that comes up "Error"? From time to
time, I get errors on MorningStar data because they sometimes do
redirection on the first visit of the day, controlled by a cookie. In order
to satisfy that cookie, the morningstar.com website needs to be visited
with IE or the EXCEL Web Query dialog (alt+d+d+w).

But that redirection shouldn't be the issue if it's working before you copy
it. Hmmm.

Are the ticker references in the formula OK?

The first thought that comes to mind for me is a larger number of
RCHGetYahooQuotes() that are set up to automatically recalculate when
something in the workbook changes. So any change would cause all of them to
need to update. If that is the issue, changing it to a single
RCHGetYahooQuotes() function array-entered over a range would help.

The formula I am using is the same one in the Morningstar financials template:
=smfGetCSVFile("http://financials.morningstar.com/ajax/ReportProcess4CSV.html?t="&C2&"&reportType="&C3&"&period="&C4&"&dataType="&C5&"&order="&C6&"&columnYear="&C7&"&rounding=3&denominatorView="&C8). The appropriate entries for C2,C3,C4,C5,C6.C7,C8 are made. In fact since the template opens with "GOOG' as the stock, I change it to something else to make sure the template is working as it should. I then copy the result to another excel workbook but only get 'error'

I am convinced that it must be something about the settings in my workbook as the template itself works. It might be how I am copying it but I have tried everything I know {which isn't much] to fix the problem.

BTW, the slow processing and 'not responding' also occur with the template itself.

Again I appreciate your help and insight

After replying to your answer, I went through the process I had followed originally to see if I could discover something/anything. This time, the copy was slow and once did return 'error' but ever since it seems to be working fine. It even downloads the information quickly! I didn't change any workbook settings so I have no idea how the issue got resolved.

Thank you for your time and reassurances but please don't spend more time on it for now. If I have further problems with it, I will contact you again.
