Getting quotes for indices when using "RCHGetYahooQuotes()"

Hi Thanks for the add-in. It's very helpful. But when I'm using "RCHGetYahooQuotes()" to get the prices and other information for Dow Jones Index (^DJI) and Hang Seng Index (^HSI), it doesn't work very well. I hope I can get some help from you. Thank you in advance.

When quoting (^DJI), there is no information showing up at all.
When quoting (^HSI), it automatically changes to (^HIS), and nothing but the symbol shows.

I'm pretty sure I followed all the instructions right. All the other index or company quotes work well except above two. Please help me with this. Thank you very much!!

Regards,
Wenxi

Yahoo is no long licensed to carry DJIA quotes, see:
http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/finance/known_issues/fitaki-13.html

However, the work-around I use is to use ticker symbol INDU, which appears
to work (for now, anyway).

I tried ^HSI and it worked fine for me. However, I do have troubles trying
to enter "^HSI" into an EXCEL cell -- EXCEL wants to change it to "^HIS".
But it isn't the add-in that is changing the ticker symbol, it's the EXCEL
auto-correct function. For example, just type ^HSI into a cell and before
hitting enter, type a blank -- for me, EXCEL immediately changes ^HSI to
^HIS as soon as I type the blank and indicate I am done with the word.

All I can suggest is going to the website and playing with some of the
parameters, to see if there might be a problem there.

Check out this message and some of the replies:

I have no idea what an "IR email" is -- some type of investor contact? If
so, I know no more than you. However, the other items can all come from the
Yahoo profile page mentioned in the above messages. Of course, the
difficulty is that different companies use different titles for their
executives.

Just want a simple start ...

I use Excel 2002 and for years have used MSN Stock Quotes Add-in ... just for investment spreadsheets, and literally the only functions I use are Date of Last Sale, Last Price, and Percent Change for several stocks and mutual funds. I just update quotes at the end of the day. In the past week, MSN Stock Quotes has stopped working. Today I found this group, and my question is this: since I'm using Excel 2002, should I use your version 2.1, or should I download one of your "obsolete" 2.0 versions, and if so, which one? Thanks!

I would actually suggest you load the most recent version, 2.1.2011.04.03,
from the "Works in Progress" folder. You definitely do NOT want one of the
obsolete versions. They are really there just for reference/backup.

For what you used to do, an array-entered RCHGetYahooQuotes() function
should cover everything you need and get the data very quickly.

Thanks for the quick response! I will give it a shot tomorrow after I get home from work ... hopefully, I will never look back at msn.
