Randy,

The IBD template isn't working for me either.
In the template the symbol "IBM" is in cell B2. I can change that to say
"MSFT" and none of the fields are populated. I have logged into
investors.com with internet explorer.
I can't get the web query within excel to execute. Always says something
about scripting errors and I have to go to task manager and end excel to
get out of that endless loop.

Thanks,
Bryan

In this particular instance, I'm not sure logging in with IE will work. If
I change browsers when I use IBD, I have to log in again using the new
browser, and IBD logs me out of the other browser.

I've gotten scripting errors on many web pages within the Web Query dialog,
but never an endless loop.

With the latest update of their website, I know my IE object within EXCEL
is now too old to work on their site. It gets a warning and tells me to
update IE to a new version. Which I can't do either. :(

As a result, the only way I can get the IE object with EXCEL to log me into
the website is to use this URL in the Web Query dialog:

https://www.investors.com/Services/SiteAjaxService.asmx/MemberSingIn?strEmail=xxxxx&strPassword=yyyyy&blnRemember=true

Just replace xxxxx with your email address and yyyyy with your password.

Thanks for the quick reply Randy.

I tried the above link changing the xxxxx and the yyyyyy with no luck.
I noticed maybe a typo in that above link: MemberSingIn. I changed that to
Member Singin and again changed the xxxx and yyyy with my login info but
still no luck.
Just says "website cannot display the the page"

I logged out of investors with all the browsers I have before trying this
so I don't think I am currently logged into investors.com in any way shape
or form.
I even tried changing the "true" to "false" so that it wouldn't keep me
logged in.

Thanks for the patience!

ok I changed this link:
https://www.investors.com/Services/SiteAjaxService.asmx/MemberSingIn?strEmail=xxxxx&strPassword=yyyyy&blnRemember=true

to
https://www.investors.com/Services/SiteAjaxService.aspx/MemberSignIn?strEmail=xxxxx&strPassword=yyyyy&blnRemember=true
<https://www.investors.com/Services/SiteAjaxService.asmx/MemberSingIn?strEmail=xxxxx&strPassword=yyyyy&blnRemember=true>
and of course changed the xxx and the yyy to my login info.

It did load!
However the template still isn't working for me.

I just had tried again, and the "SingIn" is what works for me.

It's not a real web page, so you will get errors. It just an Ajax service
it goes through to log you in.

After logging in, you would need to run smfForceRecalculation to purge any
web page requests that were done before logging in. Otherwise, the add-in
will just extract the data from the previously retrieved web page, and you
need it to get a fresh copy of the web page from after the login.

Randy,

thanks!

I have logged in to investors.com through excel's web query.
If I leave the "IBM" symbol in cell B2 and tell excel to refresh all data I
do not get anything. How do I use the smfforce thingy?
All that is in the cells where the data should be populated is "#value!"

Before I assigned the macro to a button on my toolbar, I used to use alt+F8
to bring up the macro dialog, then type in the macro name,
smfForceRecalculation, then click on the "Run" button when it activated.

Randy,

I got it to work by deleting all the files from the c:smf addin folder.
Downloaded latest version and extracted all files to that folder.
Confirmed by entering *=RCHGetElementNumber("Version") into an empty cell*

*result was *
Stock Market Functions add-in, Version 2.1.2014.01.30 (C:\SMF Add-in; ; 1)

Thanks and sorry if I caused any problems for you. I think my problem was
not having the latest version. I think my version was 2.0
