Thanks, yes it had removed the files work pc moved them to a roaming folder. Yeah I changed the formula just to illustrate the undefined problem sorry for the confusion. Definetly helped I added the files and it works fine now.

I'm using the same laptop as in the US, links were working there.
I verified using the AdvFN url that I was redirected to the UK site.
Just to confirm, your "uk" fix should work with the latest "beta" version of the Add-in from the "works in progress" folder, right?

Just to verify that I have understood the right steps:
http://www.advfn.com/p.php?pid=financials&symbol=MMM redirected me to
http://uk.advfn.com/p.php?pid=financials&symbol=MMM
I created the file smf-AdvFN-Prefix as a text file using Notepad
I typed in uk, saved and closed it in the SMF Add-In folder along with all the other text files
I rebooted the laptop.
Do I need to do anything to point the add-in towards the smf-AdvFN-Prefix text file?
Should I type "uk" or "uk."?
I hate to waste your time on this - it works for others, so clearly I have missed a critical step or mis-typed something, though I've checked multiple times. Any thoughts would be much appreciated.
I will be back in the States in a couple of weeks, so I can live until then.
And once more, thank you for such a phenomenally useful tool!

The prefix change should be in any release after 2012-01-30.
Even if I use the "uk" prefix here in my browser, I still get there. It
doesn't redirect me back to the USA site.
What do you get with these:
=RCHGetTableCell("
http://www.advfn.com/p.php?pid=financials&symbol=MMM&mode=annual_reports ",
1,"Indicators",,,,3,"</TABLE",,"--")
=RCHGetTableCell("
http://uk.advfn.com/p.php?pid=financials&symbol=MMM&mode=annual_reports ",
1,"Indicators",,,,3,"</TABLE",,"--")
Both work here. Do both work for you? Both of those URLs come up in my
browser without redirection.

One possibility is that your Internet Option aren't set to get a fresh copy of a web page each time it is visited, so you keep picking up a cached copy of the web page. See the other smfForceRecalculation entry in the LINKS area of the group.

Ok, is there another way then to get it into excel? The entire table is displayed in the web page, so i guess it should be possible.
I tried with
=RCHGetHTMLTable("http://www.ivolatility.com/view_favourites.j?smid=.2.6.2 ","Symbol",-1,"",1)
But it is not starting from a good point in the page (there are more than one "symbol" string)
Then i tried with
=RCHGetHTMLTable("http://www.ivolatility.com/view_favourites.j?smid=.2.6.2 ","Price",-1,"",1)
but im just getting empty cells. Not sure if this also needs to be worked around with extract string like its possible for individual cells, but the table is too big to do it one by one symbol...
Any other suggestions?

Perhaps if you login to ivolatility.com with IE, then array-enter your
original link.

Ahhh. When I log in to iVolatility, your CSV file does work for me:
=smfGetCSVFile("http://www.ivolatility.com/favourites.csv?fav_g=52182 ")
Is this what you would expect to see for the first 5 rows and columns:

So, your workaround works, of course - but the ticker I was using generates faults with AdvFN UK that it doesn't in the US.
I had been using the tickers III and IBM to test my spreadsheet. For some reason, those tickers don't work here with AdvFN, though they do in the US. With other tickers, like MMM, MSFT etc etc, the sheet works (note to self before wasting your time in future).
I can understand why the ticker III might not work - in the UK AdvFN website the query defaults to a different UK listed company with the same ticker. IBM I have no clue what the issue is. I tried a bunch of other tickers and in general, everything works except for a few microcaps.
One last question - back in the States, should I delete the new text file or just edit it to say "www" instead of "uk"?
My apologies and thanks again for your help.

I am from Canada, it works for me, so my situation should be similar as yours. To get data for MCD, I have to enter NYSE:MCD as a ticker.

IBM won't work on the "uk" site, since it would default to the London Stock
Exchange, which has no financial statements data posted on. That is,
LSE:IBM and NYSE:IBM are different.
Just edit the file and remove the prefix when you get back to the states.

I had no problem with Randy's add-in when I upgraded from Excel 2003 to Excel 2013.
I have Excel 2003 installed on the same laptop too, as I like its simplicity and familiarity. I mostly use the 2013 version when I exceed the column limitation of 2003. It was a bit of a hassle and challenge to accomplish this.

My $.02 is that 2013 has some nice features, but a GLARING problem.
For some unfathomable reason, MS decided to do away with the MDI (mult Doc
Interface). This means that it opens each workspace in its own copy of
excel. IF you do anything, like a common menu or form, it won't work
properly. Even msgbox output gets lost behind other excel sheets that are
open.
SO, I use BOTH. The 2010 I already had, and the 2013 360 (which has a
simple, sweet, install AND lets up to five family members (or you with
multiple computers) use the same license. It IS $99 per year, though.
Perceptually, I think 2010 is more stable than 2013. But not a big
difference, and it might be my imagination, too.
