Hi Gil,
Went and looked at this. It looks good, but I think it is to make partitions. I think I would really goof things up if I messed around with this Partition. All i really want to do is defrag it.

On my IBM X40 laptop there is a system recovery partition which is not part
of the normal accessible disk space. This sounds similar to what you have.
I can see that partition using PartitionMagic, and would certainly be able
to change it from that program, but I don't see it from the PerfectDisk
defragger or any Windows utilities.
That said, though, this partition would not ever report fragmentation,
because it's not a normal part of the file system.
Are you sure it was that system partition that reported the fragmentation,
or was it possibly your "system" partition C:?
(By the way, your D: is labelled as HP_Recovery, but it sounds as though
it's just an ordinary disk partition, seeing it has a drive letter.
However, that one should not be thinking of itself as "system".)

At least from Windows Defrag, I am unable to even do an analysis. Might it
be possible to see what is going on from the dos prompt?

It's possible you don't have enough free space to defrag the partition. You
need between 12% and 15% free space to defrag. Do you have that amount of
space free? If so, try using Defraggler - which allows you to pick whichever
partition you want defragged.

Hi Group,
I thought someone in the group might know how to degrag a System partition.
I have an HP that appears to have 3 partions, OS (C:), HP_Recovery(D:) and
System (no drive designation).
The other day the System partition came up saying it was (6% fragmented),
but I am unable to Defrag it, either during a scheduled or manual defrag.
Any ideas?
