I am very new to SMF. Like 2 days. It is a really helpful plug in! Thanks. Having a little trouble

I am using an old version of excel I think 2003 in Windows 7. I am using the =RCHGetElementNumber("symbol",element number) function.

Most of the information downloaded from Yahoo is correct except for dividend yield and Dividend amount. What am I doing wrong. I tried several element numbers for Dividend and Yield but none seem to work for me. RoE, P/S, P/B, P/E, Sector all work fine as well as others like Market cap, sales, etc. Thanks for help/advice

Here is the excel output, element number used and Yahoo actual

Symbol RoE Div Yield P/S P/B P/E Sector Dividend
ANH 9.54% 0.69 7.54 0.86 9.1 Real Estate Error

element number
955 990 946 947 943 878 1421

Actual from Yahoo
9.54% 9.6% 7.55 0.86 9.1 Real Estate $0.60

Element #990 gives me the 11.2% forward dividend yield. Element #989 gives
me the $0.69 you have... ?

Element #1421 is from earnings.com -- they don't have any company data for
symbol ANH, which is why you get an "Error" value returned.

For dividend amounts and dividend yields, I would use elements #4924 thru
#4927 from Yahoo. That would allow you to choose whether you want the
forward or trailing dividend items from Yahoo's Key Statistics page.

For most elements, you would be able to find the general source and
specific web page from:

=RCHGetElementNumber("Source",990)
=RCHGetElementNumber("P-URL",990)

Thanks so much!

Here is my output for various codes. The 4924 is the one I needed. I can just get price and do current yield. Not sure why I am getting errors. I used the same excel cell to do the comparison below. Just typed in element number each time. Not sure why 989,990 and 4926, 4927 give strange results. Tried MMM since maybe ANH was small Co and giving odd numbers.

OK!!! 4925 was a formatting error on my part. When I format for % one decimal I get the 9.6% yield I was looking for so 4924 and 4925 work great!!!

ANH
989 error
990 0.69
4924 0.6 Forward Annual Dividend Rate
4925 9.6% Forward Annual Dividend Yield
4926 error Trailing Annual Dividend Rate
4927 0.69 Trailing Annual Dividend Yield
4928 0.14 5 Year Average Dividend Yield
4929 1.03 Payout Ratio
MMM
989 error
990 2.41
4924 2.54 Forward Annual Dividend Rate
4925 0.03 Forward Annual Dividend Yield
4926 error Trailing Annual Dividend Rate
4927 2.41 Trailing Annual Dividend Yield
4928 0.03 5 Year Average Dividend Yield
4929 0.37 Payout Ratio

Hmmm. The problem you have with 989, 990, 4926 and 4927 used to exist,
before I revised the element definitions, back in late 2010. If you look on
the Key Statistic page:

http://finance.yahoo.com/q/ks?s=MMM

...you'll note that "Trailing Annual Dividend Yield" is the label on BOTH
the trailing rate AND the trailing dividend. Yahoo changed the dividend
data items they displayed on that page back in late 2010, which is why I
had to change the element definitions.

And, then, I had to adjust the element definitions again for that label
error on Yahoo's part.

What do you get with:

=RCHGetElementNumber("Version")
=smfGetAParms(989)
=smfGetAParms(990)
=smfGetAParms(4926)
=smfGetAParms(4927)
