I use multiple machines and I want to share the SMF ADDIN excel files across multiple computers by storing all the files on one drive.

When I save on one machine and open the file from a different machine the links are referencing the machine where the files are stored.
The link path are different on each machine even though it is the same hard drive.

It appears it is looking for the Addin to be on the same drive as the files.

If I use a flash drive to hold the excel file I don't have the problem. But it is a pain having to move the flash drive from machine to machine since they are in different rooms.

I have been fighting this problem and going through the changing of the path every time and it is something I would like to avoid if possible.

Any thoughts on how I go about setting things up so I don't have to keep changing the ADDIN links every time?

My configuration is

Computer Operating System
Kermit1 Vista 64 bit
Kermit2 XP 32 bit
Kermit3 Windows 7 32 bit
Kermit4 Windows 7 3 2bit

Currently the SMF ADDIN is installed on each machine on the C drive in folder SMFADDIN.
While the excel files are stored on Kermit1 in folder SMFADDIN-EXCEL

Thanks, Kermit

You're going to have the problem as long as the link paths are different.
That is what EXCEL stores when it saves the workbook. You'd need to assign
the network drive as the same designated path on each machine for it to be
seamless.

I'll give it a shot but I don't think that will work. I'll let you know the results.

Probably try it over the week-end. Right now I'm putting final touches on my presentations for our local traders meeting tomorrow.
For that I'll put the files I need on a flash drive.

Thanks

I am sure the problem is me but I can't figure out why it is failing on some symbols and working on most.
I'm hoping you can spot my error
Using only these 4 symbols 2 return misinformation

Symbol
Price Indicator -- 15 Day Trend
Price Indicator -- 45 Day Trend
Price Indicator -- 100 Day Trend

win
bullish
bearish
bullish
red cells should be bearish not bullish.

ibm
bullish
bullish
bullish

AMTG
bearish
bullish
bullish

agnc
bullish
bullish
bullish

Column "B" contains =smfGetTagContent("http://www.stockscores.com/quickreport.asp?ticker="&A2,"td",0,"15 Day Trend","images")
Column "C" contains =smfGetTagContent("http://www.stockscores.com/quickreport.asp?ticker="&A2,"td",0,"45 Day Trend","images")
Column "D" contains =smfGetTagContent("http://www.stockscores.com/quickreport.asp?ticker="&A2,"td",0,"100 Day Trend","images")

I am using this method to pull the information because elements 811 -813 still do not work on my desktop or laptop.

Thanks,

As is, your "100-day trend" string will grab the 100-day trend from the
"volume/momentum" tab instead of the "moving average/volatility" tab.

That's why I use "moving average/vol" as my first search string, to
position me on the proper tab.

Hi Randy,
I have been using these Web sites and formulas to extract data.
They have stopped working.
Can you please review?

I don't see anything to extract on either of the URLs you're using.

Hi Randy,
Yes, you found these two URL's for me back on Jan 18 (working then).
Have they been changed?
Thanks

Apparently. I no longer have the info on what you were trying to extract,

hi,

when i was entering the formula below
=RCHGetYahooHistory("IBM",2007,1,3,2008,1,3,w,"DOHLCVA",0)

i have encountered a #VALUE# error, is there any problem with it?

also,

in the formula, what should be input in the ''IBM'' column to point it to a specific cell, eg, Cell A1

lastly, in the syntax,

what exactly is [Header Line] and [Resort]

thanks

Unless w is a named range, it is what is causing your problem. Otherwise,
It needs to be a string literal, with double quotes around it.

Did you check the documentation on the function for those other parameters?

To point to a cell, you do just like you would in any other function. Just
use the cell reference in place of the literal.

Hi,

None of the Morningstar elements that I use are retrieving data, for example, =RCHGetElementNumber(Ticker,881)which normally grabs the Growth Grade or =RCHGetElementNumber(Ticker,877)which normally grabs the Industry name.

I am just getting "Error" in the cell.

I looked to see if there was an update in the Work In Progress folder and didn't see one. I also note that there are issues with the RCHGet TableCell functions that use the Morningstar Quicktake pages (I've updated my spreadsheet for the new Template that was uploaded recently.

Any thoughts?

I have my Premium Morningstar subscription open in an IE window and am logged in - and that IE has the security setting at the level that accepts all cookies.

Thanks!

Did you log in BEFORE you used the function? Otherwise, you'll still have
the pre-login web page stored in the add-in. You'd need to use the
smfForceRecalculation macro to purge the saved web page and get a new one.
See the LINKS area of the group for more info on that macro.

Another possibility is that EXCEL uses a different version of IE than the
one you use as a browser. It's one reason I suggest people log in using the
EXCEL Web Query dialog instead of with their browser.
