Hello Randy,

I am getting an "Error" message for these element numbers.

= RCHGetElementNumber(A2, 41)

= RCHGetElementNumber(A2, 44)

= RCHGetElementNumber(A2, 45)

Is there anything that I can do?
I really hope you have a solution?
Pls tell me I just need to update something???

Thank you, have a great day.

They're working fine here -- what do you get with:

=RCHGetElementNumber("Version")
=smfGetAParms(41)

You should definitely get the latest version of the add-in. A lot has
changed in 3 years.

Not the most recent version of the add-in, but the element definitions look
correct.

What ticker symbols are returning "Error"?

If you exit and restart EXCEL, do you still get "Error" on those elements?
How about with ticker "MMM"?

Do you see a reasonable web page, filled with data, when you visit this URL
with the EXCEL Web Query dialog:

http://investing.money.msn.com/investments/stock-report?CR=1&AF=1&IH=1&AIE=1&AIR=1&FRH=1&FRK=1&ISA=1&ISQ=1&BSA=1&BSQ=1&CFA=1&CFQ=1&TYS=1&ITT=1&ITP=1&Type=Equity&Symbol=MMM

Thank you so much for your time, there was a macro called "Replace". It's all sorted out now.

Randy,

to update smf addin files, do we first need to delete all files here; c:\program files\smf addin\

or, do we just go to:

http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/smf_addin/files/Add-In%20Files/

and update?

I do not want to mess up your addin.

thanks

No need to delete all the files, but it shouldn't hurt anything unless you
have added/changed files there. I wouldn't bother.

When you extract the new ZIP file, it will ask you if you want to replace
duplicate files. Just answer yes to all.

You should exit EXCEL first though.

Hello
I'm using RCH_Stock_Market_Functions-2.1.2012.12.29 and trying to get the bid price using smfGetOptionQuotes in VBA. I first get the various strikes using smfGetOptionStrikes and then choose the one At The Money. I plug this into smfGetOptionQuotes as below but get "N/A". I can see that AAP has a valid bid price for this strike and expiration on Yahoo if I get the quote via the web page. I just can't see where I going wrong.
Thanks for your help
David

OptString = "AAP 4/20 2013 $80.00 Call"

BidPriceArr = smfGetOptionQuotes(pTickers:=OptString, _
pItems:="B", _
pSource:="Y", _
pDim1:=1, _
pDim2:=1)

That ticker symbol works fine here.

Do you have your Internet Options set up to always get a fresh copy of a
web page? Otherwise, the Internet retrieval process the add-in uses could
be picking up an old, cached copy of the web page.

I changed Internet options from 'Automatically' to 'Every time I visit the page' but still get the "N/A" response to smfGetOptionQuotes. Other functions, such as smfGetOptionStrikes and smfGetOptionExpiry() are working. I've tried running the code on another PC (Windows 7, Excel 2007) with the Internet options set correctly and get the same result.

Is there anything else I can try?

Well, you would get "N/A" right now, because the market is closed...

Otherwise, did you try running the smfForceRecalculation macro? The add-in
also stores copies of web pages, so that if multiple items are needed from
the same web page, it only needs to retrieve the web page once. See the
LINKS area of the group for more info on the macro. You may still have an
old copy of the web page in the add-in, that needs to be purged and
refreshed.

Thanks I did that and the numbers make more sense.
