1. Randy, Since I do not the most recent version add-in, should I update?
2. I am using symbol "INTC for Intel.
3. I existed, and restarted excel and still got the error message.
4. Yes, I see the MSN webpage when I plug in the url that you gave me from the previous message into excel : Data, Get external, from web page?

This message pops up when I plugged in your url:

"Do you want to view only the webpage content that was delivered securely?

This webpage contains content that will not be delivered using a secure HTTPS connection, which could compromise the security of the entire webpage."

you have to choice: Yes or NO.

I choosed, NO.

Randy, =rchgetelementnumber($E$2,B29), instead of saying "Error" in the cell, I now get this message "#NAME?"in the excel cell.

Beta =rchgetelementnumber($E$2,24) =#NAME?
Last Price =rchgetelementnumber($E$2,25)=#NAME?
52 Week Low =rchgetelementnumber($E$2,33)=#NAME?
52 Week High =rchgetelementnumber($E$2,34)=#NAME?

Thanks,
Rene

#NAME? on a freshly entered add-in formula would either mean the
function name is misspelled or the add-in is not active.

Your element definitions appeared to be current, so updating to the
most recent version shouldn't fix that. But it wouldn't hurt...

Otherwise, I'm at a loss as to why you're getting errors...

Hi Randy,

I have good news and bad news!

You were right about the message "#NAME?". For my smf-addin, I went to excel office button, excel options, Add-ins, and discovered my smf-addin was disabled. I enabled it. I do not know how this happened, maybe when I updated my smf files? So most of my smf functions are now working again.

I am still trying to work out the "Error" messages.

Example: The symbol I am using is "INTC", Intel.

Last Price, =RCHGetElementNumber($F$1,25). I get the "Error" message.

Randy, you fixed my 1st problem, any ideas how I can fix the "Error" messages.

Thank you.

OK, since you had to reactivate the add-in, let's start from the top.
What do you get with:

=RCHGetElementNumber("Version")
=RCHGetElementNumber("INTC",25)
=smfGetAParms(25)
=RCHGetWebData("http://investing.money.msn.com/investments/stock-report?CR=1&AF=1&IH=1&AIE=1&AIR=1&FRH=1&FRK=1&ISA=1&ISQ=1&BSA=1&BSQ=1&CFA=1&CFQ=1&TYS=1&ITT=1&ITP=1&Type=Equity&Symbol=INTC",1,20)
=RCHGetTableCell("http://investing.money.msn.com/investments/stock-report?CR=1&AF=1&IH=1&AIE=1&AIR=1&FRH=1&FRK=1&ISA=1&ISQ=1&BSA=1&BSQ=1&CFA=1&CFQ=1&TYS=1&ITT=1&ITP=1&Type=Equity&Symbol=INTC",1,"Last
Price")

Yes, of course it works. Except for dummies like me. Here is the formula I put in to get the p/e:
=RCHCreateComment(A1,54). Oh well. See ya. David

Subject: Re: [smf_addin] P/E Ratio

It works fine here:

=RCHGetElementNumber("BP",54)

...returns 11.6.

As for reliability, I have no comment. I've not done any kind of comparison.

What is the most reliable element number to get the current P/E?
I've used #54 but I get an error for BP. Please lead me to a good number. Thanks, David

Hey Randy, I hope you had a good weekend.

I would like to be able to get the street ratings guide and have the buy, hold and sell rating along with the a b c d etc. and the colors into my spreadsheet.

http://www.thestreet.com/quote/UTHR/details/analyst-ratings.html

Is that a possibility with the plugin?

Thanks

See: http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/smf_addin/message/21489

Found by searching the archives for "thestreet analyst".

You can use conditional formatting for the colors.

Ha, 2 minutes after I emailed you I found that link! Sorry about that.

Of course , I can use conditional formatting, I should have thought of that. So to get the ticker from an excel cell, I just put in "&C2&" in place of the ticker in your example and it works like a charm!

The grasshopper is learning!

Thanks Randy
