Hi Randy - this template is giving me all errors when using MCD as a ticker (or any US stock).

I am in Canada, if I enter IPL.TO, it works.

When accessing Yahoo via IE to get the Key statistics, the page for MCD is

https://ca.finance.yahoo.com/q?s=mcd&ql=1

Do you thing this "ca" prefix is causing problems?

Jose L. Jacob

I just tried both MCD and IPL.TO here and both worked fine. Your issues
probably do have something to do with the redirection that is going on.

Have you applied the "cross domain" fix for AdvFN? I think that has fixed a
few redirections in the past. Might work. Might not.

Hi Randy - are you referring to this fix?

"What you can do is create a file in the same folder as add-in, called "smf-AdvFN-Prefix.txt", All the file should contain is the two letters "uk". You can create the file with Notepad. This file overrides the add-in default, and the add-in will then use the "uk" version of the URL instead of the default "www" version of the URL.

You'll need the 2.1.2012.12.29 version of the add-in for this to work..."

I have this file for AdvFN, but I don't know how it can help for this Yahoo issue.

Jose L. Jacob

Randy,

I have also been crippled by the MSN changes. I see how your example extracts the annual data, but how can I get quarterly data? Also, any plans to update the "RCHGetElementNumber" functions, or will the MSN data become obsolete?

Thanks for all your hard work,
Michael

It looks like they've got the data on static web pages, loading them onto a
dynamic web page, similar to what MorningStar is now doing. For ticker
symbol MMM, these appear to be the six pages of financial statement data:

http://www.msn.com/en-us/money/stockdetails/financials/balance_sheet/Annual/fi-126.1.MMM.NYS
http://www.msn.com/en-us/money/stockdetails/financials/balance_sheet/Quarterly/fi-126.1.MMM.NYS

http://www.msn.com/en-us/money/stockdetails/financials/income_statement/Annual/fi-126.1.MMM.NYS
http://www.msn.com/en-us/money/stockdetails/financials/income_statement/Quarterly/fi-126.1.MMM.NYS

http://www.msn.com/en-us/money/stockdetails/financials/cash_flow/Annual/fi-126.1.MMM.NYS
http://www.msn.com/en-us/money/stockdetails/financials/cash_flow/Quarterly/fi-126.1.MMM.NYS

At this point, it's unlikely I will update any elements for MSN data, since
the URLs above need more than just the ticker symbol to access the data for
a particular company (i.e the "126.1" and "NYS" values). I know "NYS" is
the exchange, but I have no idea what the "126.1" is. Plus, that means
every data retrieval would need to get multiple web pages, just to create
the URL for the data. Might be possible, but not pretty.

Hello!

Before 07.10.2014 the RCH Stock Markets Function shows only the daily "Close" and not the "Open", the "Max" or the"Min" of the ^gdaxi.

That is for example not by "IBM" or others.

What is wrong. After the 07.10.2014 all is allright.

Thanks

I'll need more details -- specific function and parameters? I can't
understand what function or items you're having issues with. Nothing
off-hand comes to mind with "Min" and "Max" items.

Hi Randy,

I've been trying to scrape some retail price data from a few different retailer's websites using the RCH Get Web Data-Function, but am having trouble retrieving prices from Amazon.

Would you suggest I use this function for this, or is there a better way?

Thanks

I pull data from Amazon every day, from searches for free Kindle books.
What kinds of things have you tried?

For example, if I put the book's ASIN in a cell, this grabs the price of
the eBook:

=RCHGetTableCell("http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/"&C5,1,"Kindle Price:")

RCHGetWebData() is usually my function of last resort. First shot is
usually RCHGetTableCell() when things are in a table. When things aren't in
a table, I usually go to smfGetTagContent().

Thanks for the reply,

I'm looking for prices of, for instance, this TV:

Sony XBR70X850B 70-Inch 4K Ultra HD 120Hz 3D Smart LED TV http://www.amazon.com/Sony-XBR70X850B-70-Inch-Ultra-120Hz/dp/B00J585ORC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1416270856&sr=8-1&keywords=XBR70X850B

Haven't had much luck finding the actual number. I'll try get table cell.

Hi Randy- I am getting an error message for =smfGetOptionQuotes(B4,"6",,"OX2") where B4 is QQQ Mar 2015 $103 Call

Any suggestions?

The monthly code of "Mar" won't work because as of February of 2015,
they're realigning monthly expirations to Fridays to match the weeklies. It
works fine on my version of the add-in, because I made a change to the
routine earlier this year, on 2014-09-15. But if you don't have that
update, you'll need to use a workaround and have something like this in
cell B4:

QQQ 3/20 2015 $103 Call

The updates are in limbo right now because I made changes for the new
format of Yahoo option pages, which Yahoo backed out a week later. I expect
them to go back to the new format because Chrome and FireFox *are* using
it. But it has me befuddled right now.
