Randy, I tried the download of the work-in-progress version 7/8/2015 but its keeps saying the version is 06-08-2015
I even tried resting my system after the second download attempt, still not getting the 07-08 version.

I have updated to the zip file labeled http://ogres-crypt.com/SMF/Works-In-Progress/RCH_Stock_Market_Functions-2.1.2015.07.08.zip.
And the http://ogres-crypt.com/SMF/Works-In-Progress/smfGetGuruFocusItem-Full-Template.xls

I am getting #NAME? in every cell.

I opened one of my spreadsheets that I knew worked and I get Stock Market Functions add-in, Version 2.1.2015.06.08 (C:\SMFADDIN; ; ; 1)
As the version.

Just to be sure that I had not downloaded the wrong file I did it over again with the same results.
When I open the element definition file it shows

RCHGetElementNumber() Element Definitions as of 2015-05-27

But before I sent this I restarted my system and opened my spreadsheet and now I still get
Stock Market Functions add-in, Version 2.1.2015.06.08 (C:\SMFADDIN; ; ; 1)
As the version
And I still get #NAME? in every cell of the SMFGetFocisitem worksheet.

When I open the zip file it shows 7/8/2015 as the last modified date of the XLOA file.

Can you explain what is happening? Why am I getting the 06-088 version?

Might help if you add the version to the element file each time you update it.

Did you exit EXCEL before you updated the XLA? EXCEL only loads add-ins at start-up time.
Check the version EXCEL is using with:
=RCHGetElementNumber("Version")
BTW, it takes me about 60 seconds to get the whole template calculated.

OK, I see I needed to update the xla as of 7/8/2015. Did that and re-Browsed to the Add-In file, etc.
But I'm getting #NAME in every cell of the smfGetGuruFocusItem-Full-Template.xls when I open it.
All the data is there for MMM until I Enable Editing. Then it goes fubar.
What am I missing?

The only thing I can think of is that you're not updating the files in the
correct folder. Sometimes people have the add-in existing in multiple
folders, for whatever reasons.

I notice the folder name in your version stamp is a non-standard one (i.e.
C:\SMFADDIN). Are you perhaps updating the add-in in the standard folder
name (i.e. C:\SMF Add-in), and then not picking up the changes because your
installed version of the add-in is from the non-standard folder name?

Once again, you are absolutely on target. I changed the default location a long time ago, However, I did not get rid of the default location.

I changed the link to the correct location and it works. I get premium in DEC00 thru Dec09 as I don't have a premium account on Guru.

Thanks again for correcting my SUE(Stupid User Error)

I don't really use this data but I like to test each template you load just to be sure everything still works.

Kermit

Hi guys,

Looking for 10- year Quartely data on Key Ratios for Companies on the DJINET. Any help in getting them?

AdvFN may be your only option, unless you subscribe to GuruFocus.

Hello Randy,

Thanks again for the great tool.

In the past, I successfully downloaded data from this website
http://www.pbc.gov.cn/publish/html/2013s18.htm http://www.pbc.gov.cn/publish/html/2013s18.htm

However, it recently changed the template a bit (from landscape to portrait). Since then I cannot grab the data.

My formula is:
RCHGetTableCell("http://www.pbc.gov.cn/publish/html/2013s18.htm http://www.pbc.gov.cn/publish/html/2013s18.htm", 0,"AFRE<",,,,)

This is the simplest formula, aiming to get back "AFRE". Still no luck.

Could you please help?

Thanks a lot.

Cheers,
Ka Yau

I also could not get your formula to work, nor could I get any meaningful
data from the URL using add-in functions...

...UNTIL I visited the website using the EXCEL Web Query dialog (although
IE would probably do the trick). I think they had some form of redirection
on the site that could only be bypassed once a cookie was updated. Since
the add-in isn't a browser processing the source code, but just collecting
the raw source code of a web page, it doesn't update such cookies.

So try visiting the website with the EXCEL Web Query dialog, then CANCEL
out, and run the smfForceRecalculation macro to force the add-in to get a
fresh copy of the web page. Hopefully, that will do the trick for you, as
it did for me.
