Randy,

I think I solved my problem.

I deleted some of the data points that I was drawing from different websites and now I don't have the errors.

I read on the FAQs that there is a limit of 1,000 pages. Maybe that was the issue.

Again, thanks very much.

Hi Randy, Any idea why RCHGetYahooQuotes would be sporadically returning N/A for some stocks? In my spreadsheet about half the issues are now returning N/A and the other half return the proper name. I am just using the "n" parameter when this happens. Also today "r5" is returning 0 rather than the PEG ratio. Thanks in advance. Roger

Anything with a value of "N/A" would because that is what Yahoo is sending
as the data value. Not a clue as to why name would be N/A, or PEG would be
0.

I'm having this problem as well. I have about 10% of my issues returning N/A values for price, symbol name. If I edit the cell, don't make changes, then hit enter, sometimes it comes back with a value.

Yahoo may have done something over night.

Hello,

Does anyone know a place for the (daily) overviews of the US short sell actions?

I have been trying to find it on the SEC site but I can't find it yet.

Thanks in advance,

@Randy: thanks for your great work all the time.

Ronald

Randy

Thanks for this, I can handle the few 'missing' ones manually although I see from other posts that other people are having the same problems with Yahoo Finance.

I have revamped my working spreadsheet and have one rather silly question please.

Under the old Microsoft Finance 'add-in' I had an item called "Add Ins" on the Excel menu bar and under this I could select an option to "Refresh" all the looked up fields.

How do I do this with your add-in please

At the moment I do not have such an add-in menu item and I have to go into each field separately to refresh it.

I am sure there is a simple fix for this but I cannot see it!

Your help would be appreciated.

Robin

It looks like Yahoo simply isn't carrying (or updating) data on those funds. You could pick up the latest NAV from one of your cited web pages. For example, something like:

=RCHGetTableCell("http://funds.investorschronicle.co.uk/uk/Tearsheet/Summary?s=GB0006664683:GBX",
1,"View PDF","<tr")

I have now applied the RCHGetYahooQuotes() function to my general spreadsheet and identified those Tickers not returning a Current Price – interestingly they all return a Company Name.

I attach a sample spreadsheet showing the problems….

I have noted that if I look at the Current Price detail on the Yahoo Finance page that too is Zero.

For example - https://uk.finance.yahoo.com/q/bc?s=GB0006664683.L for Jupiter European

Please note – all the errors are for FUNDS not EQUITIES

Is there an alternative field I could use in the Yahoo Finance page please?

The data available in the UK is pretty good.

I also use the following sites – I show examples of the Jupiter European pages for your information

- http://funds.investorschronicle.co.uk/uk/Tearsheet/Summary?s=GB0006664683:GBX The Financial Times site

- http://www.morningstar.co.uk/uk/funds/snapshot/snapshot.aspx?id=F0GBR04C3Z Morningstar UK

- http://www.hl.co.uk/funds/fund-discounts,-prices--and--factsheets/search-results/j/jupiter-european-class-i-income This is the site I used to manage my portfolio (excellent by the way!)

Any advice would be most appreciated.

The SMF add-in doesn't do anything to the top menus. However, there is a
macro to update everything -- smfForceRecalculation. I have it assigned to
a button on my toolbar. See the "Tips and FAQs" web page for more info on
the macro.

Does anyone have a work around for this? There are elements from Advfn for this 7786-7795, but it often returns values of "0". Morningstar has this data, but I do not see element numbers for this variable (even though there are element definitions for other variables in Morningstart under the Key Rations/Profitability section.

Thanks very much for the continued support and great group working with the function. Thanks Randy, Brent.

You can get that data from MorningStar with something like this:

=smfConvertData(smfStrExtr(smfWord(RCHGetWebData("
http://financials.morningstar.com/financials/getKeyStatPart.html?t=MMM","
i27\"),2," i27"),">","<"))

...varying the "2" value from "2" to "12".

That web page is the raw data source that MorningStar uses to build the
"Key Ratios/Profitability" section of the web page you view in MorningStar.

An easy way to grab all of the financial data is just to use the CSV file
that MorningStar has available for export:

=smfGetCSVFile("
http://financials.morningstar.com/ajax/exportKR2CSV.html?t=MMM")
