Quotes for Dow Jones Indexes from Yahoo failing

RCHGetYahooQuotes failing to get quotes for all these symbols:

^W1DOW ^DJA INDU ^DJT ^DJU ^BKTDM ^BKTEM ^DJECOM ^DJUSBK ^DJUSBT ^DJUSCH ^DJUSCT ^DJUSCR ^DJUSCN ^DJUSCE ^DJUSFN ^DJUSIV ^DJUSOL ^DJUSPR ^DJUSRT ^DJUSSB ^DJUSSC ^DJUSWC ^DJUSRE ^DJUBS ^DJUBS ^DJUSl ^DJCBTI

It looks like problem from Yahoo site but from other hand it shows the quotes for these symbols in Yahoo market tracker and in Yahoo portfolios.
Do you have any idea why?

It's a Yahoo problem. I just tried ^W1DOW download data link from their
website and got mostly "N/A" values.

If it is Yahoo problem then why I can get data for the same symbols through web queries to my Yahoo portfolios?

Because your web queries don't use their CSV interface. That is the source
of the data for the RCHGetYahooQuotes() function. For example, click the
"Download Data" link here:

http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=^W1DOW

I get:

"^W1DOW",0.00,"N/A","N/A",N/A,N/A,N/A,N/A,N/A

RCHGetYahooHistory not working

Hello,

I just downloaded the latest version. I extracted to the correct location (C:\Program Files\SMF Add-In\) and correctly installed the add-in in Excel 2007. I opened a new workbook and highlighted 20 rows and 7 columns and then typed (not cut/paste) RCHGetYahooHistory("MSFT"). I then hit CTRL-SHIFT-ENTER. It appeared that excell ran for a bit (20 seconds) and then stopped with no data and no error. All the cells in the array were empty. However, if I selected any cell in the array, the formula bar would show {RCHGetYahooHistory("MSFT"}. I did review the documentation and link and searched the messages, but I couldn't find anything that helped. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks for you help!

I just tried:

=RCHGetYahooHistory("MSFT")

....here and it returned the data in under a second. I note your message
was early this morning. You may have hit them during a server maintenance
period. I used to get an occasional all blanks returned when I worked on
things in the wee hours of the morning.

I'd suggest trying it again. Or run the smfForceRecalculation macro to
force it to update (see "Links" area of the group for info on the macro).

It definitely shouldn't take 20 seconds. But I will note that we've been
having other problems with Yahoo in the past week, so maybe something is
going on there?

Thanks for your response! However, I don't think that was the problem. I
tried the same test on my work computer and everything worked fine. When I
got back home this evening I tried again on my home computer and I got the
same problem...empty cells. Both computers run Excel 7 and Windows XP.
Are there settings (other than the smf add-in) that need to be set before
it works (maybe other default add-ins). Thanks again for your help!

I figured it out. It was the firewall on my home computer. It was
blocking the requests to Yahoo. Once I disalbed the firewall, everything
worked fine. Thanks!

Are you able to do other add-in functions? What do you get with:

=RCHGetElementNumber("Version")
=RCHGetYahooQuotes("MMM","l1")

Or, are you able to do an EXCEL Web Query? Is it possible you have a
firewall preventing EXCEL from accessing the Internet?

Does your system use U.S. Regional settings?
