NUM has nothing to do with that facility. NUM indicates that NumLock is on.
You should be able to right-click anywhere on the status bar to control the
calculation facility. It has its own "None" setting, so I doubt that you
can turn it off anywhere else.
You do need to be displaying the status bar to see any of this, of course.

Its not VBA related, but here goes:
In the lower right hand corner of an excel sheet there is this word "NUM"
and when you right click on it, a shortcut menu appears with the words that
allow you to do some simply math functions, such as,
Average
Count
Count Nums
Max
Min
Sum
If you hold down a left click and highlight a range of numbers then pick one
of these above functionalities it will do the calculation for you and
display the result in the bottom middle below the worksheet.
NOW MY QUESTION:
If this functionality does not appear in the bottom right of your
spreadsheet, exactly how do you get it back? I don't even know what to call
this shortcut menu, so I have no idea where to start or what terminology to
use to find it??????
I know this is a strange and dumb question but please help
