Re: HardCoat cell that has formula once the formula returns a value

The spreadsheet attached was a bare bones look at my model. The all inclusive model is being used as a performance calculator, and statement generator, for friends, family, and my personal portfolios. Using the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) recommended Global Investment Performance Standards (GIPS), the portfolio should be balanced daily.

I do not want to bog down the free sites, which is why I am looking to retrieve price data for the stocks in my funds portfolio and then hardcoating the historical prices, so the next time the macro is run, prior prices will not be retrieved again. (I currently input each days price for my holdings and then manually hardcoat them).

Do you know of VBA code to achieve this? (ie. formula retrieves stock price, and then the same cell hardcoates itself by running a macro possibly, if today's date is greater than the date the stock price was retrieved.)

Then you have to worry about adjustments to the data, for dividends,
splits, symbol changes, spinoffs, etc. I used to do that and never will
again -- it's a real pain to keep things up to date.

In any case, your "hardcoating" would probably be best done by having the
VBA put values in the cells. That is, invoking the formulas from VBA
instead of the workbook. Take a look at the example from the "Links" area
of the group.

That works great, thank you.
