Randy,

Can you just link element 25 in the master to last sale on the Nasdaq site? That moves the price up an entire day from the previous close with MSN

http://www.nasdaq.com/aspx/infoquotes.aspx?symbol=CYTK&selected=CYTK

Element #25, the "Last Price" on MSN has been defined as the
previous day's closing price since they redesigned the web page early
last year, so yes, it's pretty useless these days.

Take a look at the RCHGetYahooQuotes() function. It's much better at picking up daily quotes. You can gather numerous data items on up to 200 stocks (per function invocation), so it can be very fast at getting data. There's an entry in the LINKS area of the group that has a step-by-step example of setting up a data table. And the documentation for the function can be found in the "Documentation" folder in the FILES area of the group.

HOW CAN I GET THIS FUNCTION TO GIVE ME THE CURRENT STOCK PRICE DURING THE MARKET DAY. I HAVE IT SET TO 25 AND IT JUST GIVES ME THE PREVIOUS DAYS CLOSE.

WHERE IS BID AND ASK OR THE CURRENT PRICE??????

PLEASE HELP

I'd rather obsolete it. The only reason I added it initially is because I
converted everything on the MSN print page to an element. It was one I
should have skipped, since elements are NOT typically intended for things
that need to be updated frequently. Especially since RCHGetYahooQuotes()
does the job so much more efficiently.

Most of the "current quotes" from pages like the one you cite are more
difficult extractions. And, for some reason, seem to be changed frequently.

Sorry I could not find.

Does rchgetyahooquotes provide market cap?

Thanks.

I think the tables are interactive because Excel's web based query does not recognize them. Here is a snapshot of one table from the source code. From this data, if it is possible to extract the numbers into excel that would be awesome. Thanks for your help.

There aren't any tables there at all, other than the content of a single
table cell. But if I'm understand what you want, the general form would be:

=smfGetTagContent(_URL_,"div",_row_,"Stylebox_Valuation.gif")

...where _URL_ is the URL of the web page in question, and _row_ would vary
from 2 to 10....

Hi Randy,

It is now amply clear that Advfn is not updating quarterly earnings data. Is there any other data source that can be used as an alternative, apart from Google Finance?

I have tried Google Finance, but have found many errors in their data.

For instance, the quarterly data for none of the companies that have declared results this quarter have beenn updated - e.g. Alcoa, Yum Brands, wells fargo etc..

GuruFocus?

http://www.gurufocus.com/financials_print.php?symbol=AA

MorningStar? NASDAQ? Yahoo? MSN?

I don't know what quarterly data you're looking for. Google:

AA "income statement" quarterly

...and you'll find lots of sources of data.
