Unfortunately, you need to use the IE object to automate a log on. I used
to do that with EXCEL 2003, but it didn't work with EXCEL 2007. It's one
reason I use the XMLHTTP object to grab web page source code and not the IE
object. Interfacing with the IE object is not consistent over varying
versions of EXCEL and IE. So I just avoid it altogether.
I don't see the manual log on process as a hindrance, since the cookies
sometimes stay around for a long time. Many people never even see the
issue, since they use IE as a browser and visit such sites regularly.
