Hi,
I am trying to get some data from AdvFN, but there is one issue I have no idea how to cross it.
I downloaded the template of AdvFN from: http://ogres-crypt.com/SMF/Templates/smfGetAdvFNElement-Template-All-Line-Items.xls http://ogres-crypt.com/SMF/Templates/smfGetAdvFNElement-Template-All-Line-Items.xls
As I am non-US, so my prefix is asia, I tried some quotes like "AAPL", "KO", "MMM" and "V", above of them are working well, I can get / see data in excel cells, but while I am trying to get the quote of "HAS" it is nothing just "--".
I can see something if I directly open the link: Hasbro Inc Company Financial Information http://asia.advfn.com/stock-market/NASDAQ/HAS/financials?btn=annual_reports

http://asia.advfn.com/stock-market/NASDAQ/HAS/financials?btn=annual_reports

Hasbro Inc Company Financial Information http://asia.advfn.com/stock-market/NASDAQ/HAS/financials?btn=annual_reports financial information, fundamentals and company reports including full balance sheet, profit and Loss, debtors, creditors, financial ratios, rates, margins, prices ...

I also find one thing strange, there is no financials in
Hasbro, Inc. (MM) (HAS) Share Price http://asia.advfn.com/stock-market/NASDAQ/HAS/stock-price

page, but if I quote

I wonder if "HAS" has some meaning (pre-define words?) in excel macro.
Could someone help me to figure out this?

Thanks!
Benny

I think if you want to access those companies, you need to use the exchange
prefix. For example, if you're in the browser and just enter the ticker
symbol "HAS", you actually get sent to this web page:

http://asia.advfn.com/stock-market/london/HAS/financials

...and it has no financial statements. What you want is:

http://asia.advfn.com/stock-market/NASDAQ/HAS/financials

...and that is a ticker symbol of NASDAQ:HAS on your regional website, not
HAS.

I'm hoping the extended ticker symbol will work. I had to put some special
programming in for it, but I have no way to test it myself. I wrote the
add-in for my own use, and am just sharing it. But my uses are very narrow
-- mostly large cap U.S. stocks and index ETFs. I don't do anything with
individual mutual funds, bonds, or foreign stocks.

Thanks Randy for the reply. May I have your help to know how to set "exchange prefix" & "extended ticker symbol"?

The extended ticker symbol was my example of "NASDAQ:HAS", instead of just
using "HAS", because it has "NASDAQ:" as the exchange prefix.

When you use just "HAS" on the "asia" region of AdvFN, you end up with
"LSE:HAS", which has no financial statements.

Hi all, just in the last week I am having a problem with my spreadsheet that pulls from Yahoo. The formulas are working and we are seeing prices but then they are deleting themselves leaving the formula cell blank.

2 hours later it may work or it may not. This issue is becoming really frustrating. Does anyone have any ideas what it is doing or how to fix this issue?

Thank you
C

The last few months, others have also been having issues with
RCHGetYahooQuotes(). For all of them, my suggested work-around was to
combine all their individual function invocations into an array-entered
function, so all of the data could be collected in a single Internet
access. That would speed up recalculation time significantly. Plus, if you
do happen to get an empty response from Yahoo, it's easily rectified by
just running smfForceRecalculation again.
