Hi Randy,
Thanks a lot for your replying so promptly. Things here are
still a puzzle. To better explain to you the situation, I'll
address each one of your suggestions:
>>> But had it been working since the end of August, when I
needed to change element definitions?
Yes.
>>>If you install the add-in in a different directory, you have
to update any toolbar buttons pointing to the old location to the
new location.
I did change the directory. Because of that, I updated the ADD IN
directory through the OPTIONS ADD IN. It is pointing to the
correct directory.
When I attempted to update the toolbar button pointing to the new
directory using he OPTIONS QUICK ACCESS TOOLBAR, the SMF macros
did not appear in the MACRO pull down. I believe they should
have.
>>>Plus, for each workbook you had saved, EXCEL saved the
location of the add-in with each formula from the add-in. If the
activated version of the add-in isn't in that location when the
workbook is opened, EXCEL will flag that as an "unresolved link"
(resulting in #NAME? errors) that you'll need to fix. You can fun
the smfFixLinks macro to do that.
Indeed. I did update all the references using the UPDATE SOURCE.
The unresolved links were not resolved... the #NAME? persist.
One additional piece of the puzzle: when I enter "=RCH..." in any
cell, the drop down formula list SHOWS NONE of the SMF formulas
as it used to.
Obviously there is an error here which I cannot find nor can I
fathom what can it be.
Thanks a lot for your help and patience.
Armando

If you install the add-in in a different directory, you have to
update any toolbar buttons pointing to the old location to the
new location.
Plus, for each workbook you had saved, EXCEL saved the location
of the add-in with each formula from the add-in. If the activated
version of the add-in isn't in that location when the workbook is
opened, EXCEL will flag that as an "unresolved link" (resulting
in #NAME? errors) that you'll need to fix. You can fun the
smfFixLinks macro to do that.
The best way to update add-in files is to:
1. Exit EXCEL2. Updates files, as necessary, in the add-in
folder3. Restart EXCEL

I am having a different problem now. I could not update the
"FORCE RECALCULATION" I had set up in my Tool Bar. It was point
to the previous version directory. I was unable to fix that.
Would mind directing me to the instructions to update that?
Thanks a lot.
Also, for some reason, although the OPTIONS ADD IN displays the
correct directory the spreadsheet does not update. Every single
cell shows "#NAME?".
I am at a loss. Any clues?

Randy,
Just finished a test that may shed some light on the puzzle.
(1) Disabled SMF
(2) Renamed the latest SMF directory
(3) Reinstalled the previous SMF version
(4) All seems to be working.
Could it be that the ZIP file I downloaded is defective? This is
the version I downloaded and installed:
RCH_Stock_Market_Functions-2.1.2017.09.17
Thanks
Armando

I doubt there is a problem with the ZIP file. It's had a number of
downloads. I think there would have been other people with issues. Maybe an
issue with your particular download? Hard to say.

I think something just happened in EXCEL because you changed the location
of the add-in.

One reason I wrote the smfFixLinks macro is I found the "Update Source"
feature in EXCEL to be unreliable in fixing the problem. But that may vary
by version of EXCEL.

Latest on the puzzle.
Started from scratch.
(1) Deleted new folder.
(2) Reinstalled older version.
(3) Fixed all links using SMFFIXLINKS on the spreadsheet with
older version. All working except Data Element 809.
(4) Extracted new version from the same ZIP into older folder.
(5) Replaced older SMF version with newer one.
(6) All working except DE 809.
Back to square one.
What to do now?
Thanks
Armando

What do you get with the following functions:

=RCHGetElementNumber("Version")
=RCHGetElementNumber("Definition", 809)
=RCHGetElementNumber("MMM", 809)
=RCHGetTableCell("http://www.stockscores.com/charts/charts?ticker=MMM",1,"Day
Support 1")
=RCHGetTableCell("http://www.stockscores.com/charts/charts?ticker=MMM",0,"Day
Support 1")
=RCHGetWebData("http://www.stockscores.com/charts/charts?ticker=MMM","Day
Support 1",80)

Randy:

I have created a Fund data workbook using the JSON Mutual Fund criteria. I
am having a bit of a problem with the topHoldings Module and was hoping you
could help me with it. I have the problem explained and exampled in the
attached.

It is interesting that the formulae really don't remain the same for all the
data extractions, but, believe I have conquered most of them.

I also note that there is no extraction for "Yield" in the Fund JSON
criteria nor the stock criteria.

Thank you for all you do. It amazes me.

Hmm. Working fine here. You have to use the fully qualified field name as
that third parameter.

I get this:

# holdingName holdingPercent.raw
0 Fidelity Revere Str Tr 1.80%
1 Grand Parkway Transn Corp Tex Toll 5% 0.94%
2 Grand Parkway Transn Corp Tex Toll 5.25% 0.88%
3 New York N Y City Mun Wtr Fin Rev 5.375% 0.77%
4 Illinois St Toll Hwy Auth 5% 0.67%
5 South Carolina St Pub Svcs Aut Santee 5% 0.64%
6 Miami-Dade Cnty Fla Expwy Auth 5% 0.63%
7 Michigan St Bldg Auth 5% 0.50%
8 Illinois Fin Auth 5% 0.50%
9 California Health Facs Fing Au Rev Bd 5% 0.50%

My formula is:

=smfGetYahooJSONField("FTABX","topHoldings","quoteSummary.
result.0.topHoldings.holdings."&$C14&"."&D$13)

...where $C14 is referring to the left-most column and D$13 is referring to
the final part of the fully qualified field name in the top row. Or:

=smfGetYahooJSONField("FTABX","topHoldings","quoteSummary.
result.0.topHoldings.holdings.0.holdingName")
=smfGetYahooJSONField("FTABX","topHoldings","quoteSummary.
result.0.topHoldings.holdings.0.holdingPercent.raw")

...and just changing that last 0 qualifier from 0 to 9.

Yield for fund would be:

=smfGetYahooJSONField("FTASX","summaryDetail","quoteSummary.
result.0.summaryDetail.yield.raw")

For stocks, it would still be the RCHGetElementNumber() function.
