With regard to converting PDFs to text, there are plenty of free/freemium
solutions out there but IMO you get what you pay (or not) for. Personally I
have had good experience with OmniPage by Nuance.

Hello Randy,
Thank you. I didn't catch this when going down the list. I will give them a whirl.
And, thank you to the others who have written; when I get some quiet time, I will learn the array method.
Grateful,
Marc

If you want them by fiscal years, you could try AdvFN elements #5896 thru #5905...

Most people want dividends by calendar periods rather than fiscal periods. They don't always line up the same, for comparisons between companies. And getting them from the annual financials will always mean reporting delays for the most recent period.

If you want help on the group you need to explain yourself much better.
Randy will answer almost every question you ask if you provide clear information

The site I use are
dividend.com (Fee & Free) for me the FEE is worth it.
Dividata.com (Free)
Dividendchannel.com (Free)

Each of these sites has a rating system. Naturally they don't agree so it takes a little effort to compare them.

Hello Elder,
If you would like to see the last 10 years of annual dividends, both as numbers and also a Histogram, I can send you the Excel piece that should work for you. Two things: Make sure you have Randy's SMF add-in, "added-in" to your Excel, and, tell me what cell letter & number (e.g. C3) you input the ticker symbol.
Regards,
Marc

Hello!

I have done so. It is called "10 Year Annual Dividend Trend".

I hope that small example shows how easy it is to use Randy's table.

Hello Elder,
I have made a small Excel spreadsheet in the FILES section of this user group. That should work for you, if you have Excel and have the SMF add-in you needed to have downloaded to your Excel program.
Here is a way to both get and place the SMF into your Excel spreadsheet; please follow this guy's instructions:

Hi Randy, this thread is a bit old, but I have a couple of questions:
1. How do you actually create the element number, i.e. what file would you save in it, R
RCHGetElementNumber-Element-Definitions?
2. Can the Element Name be anything you designate it to be?
3. How do you determine the formula for what for what you want to assign to a particular element number? For example, the stock scouter rating for aapl is currently a 9. How does that formula know to pick that number?
Thanks,
Brent

There is some additional information on element definitions in the
smf-elements-info.txt file that is contained within the ZIP archive. As
people ask me questions about element definitions, I try to update it so it
covers those topics. I attached a copy of what it looks like after
answering your questions. Some sections are verbatim. :)

The add-in loads element definitions from files smf-elements-0.txt thru
smf-elements-20.txt, in that order, if they exist. I'd suggest creating the
currently non-existing smf-elements-20.txt file for your own element
definitions. Otherwise, if you put them into an existing file, they would
get wiped out if you need to replace the file with a new update from me.
The #20 file will also be loaded last, so you can override and replace
other element definitions by just reusing the element number.

2. Can the Element Name be anything you designate it to be?
>

Yes. Source and element name are just for reference only.

That all depends on how the web page is written. It may require a simple
formula, or some permutation of formulas, to extract the data. But once you
create that formula, it should be relatively simple to make an element
definition out of it.

For example, one way to get the Stock Scouter rating:

=smfConvertData(smfstrExtr(smfGetTagContent("
http://investing.money.msn.com/investments/stock-price?Symbol=AAPL","a",1,"Rating:"),"~","
out of"))

That could be easily converted into an element definition. Something like:

20000;MSN or whatever;StockScouter Rating or
whatever;=smfConvertData(smfstrExtr(smfGetTagContent("
http://investing.money.msn.com/investments/stock-price?Symbol=~~~~~","a",1,"Rating:"),"~","
out of"))

I just put an element number in front of it, gave it a source name, gave it
an element name, and then copied the formula, but changed the ticker symbol
to five tildas. All separated by semi-colons.

For my own purposes, I try to give all elements extracted from the same web
page a common source name, just so it's easy to see where everything is
coming from.
