MoneyCentral MSN Issue

Posted by: "jrgeico" rerren.jeroen@gmail.com   jrgeico

Hye everyone!

I used functions such as:

=RCHGetTablecell("http://moneycentral.msn.com/investor/invsub/results/statemnt.aspx?lstStatement=Income&stmtView=Ann&Symbol="&Ticker, 3,"Unusual Expense (Income)")

to get my BS, IS and CF items (on which all ratios and other are calculated) but when I opened my spreadsheet a few minutes ago I noticed that it does not retrieve the data from this source any longer?

Anyone who knows what causes this?

The BS items still work and a few items on the CF statement work, the IS does not retrieve any numeric value at all...

If I did not provide sufficient information, do ask!

Thanks!

when I typed the url address you provided below the moneycentral website
redirected me to a different page - one that contained the balance sheet.

On that page I clicked on the "Income Statement" in the left menu and the
url address became:
http://investing.money.msn.com/investments/stock-income-statement/?symbol=IB
M

(for IBM - substitute your ticker as you've done in your formula)

So, it appears money has changed their web page names and you need to update
your formulas with the new addresses.

That's likely the website issue as I have same problem. It may implement
time-out option for updating financial data. Let's wait and see what
happens after a couple of hours.

It is in fact caused by changed URLS by MSN:

You have to find and replace your BS items URLS with the new ones (such as:

http://investing.money.msn.com/investments/stock-balance-sheet/?stmtView=Qtr&symbol=

etc etc)

If you have any questions do ask!

I used to use MoneyCentral....  but now my financial homepage is www.finviz.com

It's the best and most complete source of financial information I have every found... and it's FREE!

Hardly a complete source. If you click on their "financial highlights" or
"statements" links, they route you to other websites. FinViz has no
financial statements data, which it the subject of the thread...

Thanks for the heads up about the change!

I updated the two MSN financial statements templates in the files area by
changing these text strings:

http://moneycentral.msn.com/investor/invsub/results/statemnt.aspx?lstStatement=Income&stmtView=
http://moneycentral.msn.com/investor/invsub/results/statemnt.aspx?lstStatement=Balance&stmtView=
http://moneycentral.msn.com/investor/invsub/results/statemnt.aspx?lstStatement=CashFlow&stmtView=

...to these:

http://investing.money.msn.com/investments/stock-income-statement?stmtView=
http://investing.money.msn.com/investments/stock-balance-sheet?stmtView=
http://investing.money.msn.com/investments/stock-cash-flow?stmtView=

Oddly enough, I had to change the URLs in the templates last January as
well. I hope they don't make this an annual chore.

Help with extracting table from http://www.nasdaq.com/quotes/nasdaq-

Posted by: "Randy H" rharmelink@gmail.com   rharmelink

The table is dynamically generated, so there is no HTML table in the
source code of the web page from which the add-in can extract the data.
In fact, the data is within JavaScript code, such as:

<script type="text/javascript">var table_body = [["ATVI", "Activision
Blizzard, Inc", 12.16, -0.18, -1.46, 3434715, -0.19, "N", "N"],...

You could extract it from there, but is it worth the trouble? You can
get most of the data using RCHGetYahooQuotes() as long as you have the
ticker list.

PS: In the future, please direct add-in related questions to the Yahoo
group. Thanks.

Could you please help out if you get a chance?

Exactly, that's the point. It is in fact just one link, but little down it is possible to choose between annual and quaterly data without any change of the link. I think that is a java script menue or something...

The add-in can only extract data from the source code of a web page with a
bookmarkable URL. So that would been the quarterly data is unavailable now.

SMF-Template-MSN-10-Year-Summaries.xls errors

MSN has changed the web page addresses and content on the 10-year
summaries for Income Statement and Balance sheet. I just updated the
element definition file, smf-elements-1.txt, and uploaded it to the
"Works in Progress" folder of the files area.

You'll need to replace your version of that file in the SMF folder to
pick up those new definitions. Best practice is to exit EXCEL before
updating that file.

PS: In the future, please direct such issues directly to the Yahoo group
and not to my email address. They too easily end up in my SPAM bucket if
sent to me directly. Thanks.
