Sector and Stock Type.

No. You'd want the element definition list that came in your ZIP archive
that contained the add-in, not the obsolete one.

Getting Faulty data and don't know how to troublshoot

=smfGetOptionQuotes("EBAY Apr 2012 $32 Call","l",2) Returning 1.64 but this
option is in the 1.54s. I checked the MSN page and it is correct at the
time of 1.54 for last price . I think 1.64 was Fridays close. I did a
ctrl-shift-R but no effect. I just cant get it to update with today's
data. Can anyone help. I am probably doing something wrong.

You are missing a parameter to retrieve MSN option data. The 4th parameter
should be 2 for that - not the 3rd as you show. The default is Yahoo option
data - which is what you would get as you show it.
I've found option data is very erratic - although OX has been working fairly
good for me.

I just tried your formula and got $1.52. I suspect you have your
Internet Options set up to cache web pages instead of getting new
content every time a web page is visited. See item 9.4.2 in the "Links"
area of the group.
Any particular reason you're passing "2" as the third parameter (i.e.
the "header" parameter)? It doesn't do anything for a value of 2. As is,
your formula would be getting data from Yahoo, not MSN, so I'm not sure
why you were checking the MSN web page.
Ahhh -- to get the data from MSN, you'd need to use a function
invocation like:
=smfGetOptionQuotes("EBAY Apr 2012 $32 Call","l",," MSN")

I thought the 2 in =smfGetOptionQuotes("EBAY Apr 2012 $32 Call","l",2) was
to get quotes from MSN but it seems this is for "headers". My internet
settings were wrong and number of parameters were wrong.
=smfGetOptionQuotes("EBAY Apr 2012 $32 Call","l") now works for me too.

Unfortunately, the add-in can't extract data from that page, because the
data isn't within the source code of the web page. MorningStar is
starting to dynamically generate a lot of their data web pages.

All smfGetAdvFNElement functions appear not to be working, returning error. I checked the ADVFN site and the data is there (used AAPL but its not working for all tickers). Anyone running into the same problem?

Progress" folder, which has a change that fixes the problem for me.
What happened is they changed the domain of their URL, from
"http://www.advfn.com " to "http://us.advfn.com ". So I had to change the
URL being used by the add-in.
However, I don't know what happens with people (or stocks) that would
need different country prefixes...

I contacted tech support last week on data errors for ticker TRI and they
recommended their url that started with UK.advfn....
And, that link definitely works - but so does the us.advfn... for that
ticker so ...

Google groups isn't functional enough -- they no longer have a files area
available. And aren't the messages there all plain text? That would prevent
me from displaying tabular data and examples.

I just made the beta version of the add-in the new official release. There were just getting to be too many questions that referred someone to new files in the "Works in Progress" folder.
Changes made to the add-in since the 2010-08-02 release:

can be overridden from either VBA or from the worksheet. This allows

2010-10-10 Multiple Added code to change HTML code #151 to a normal hyphen when source code is retrieved from the Internet.
2010-10-13 smfFixLinks Changed link to be changed to a null string to be:
"'*\RCH_Stock_Market_Functions .xla'!"
...so that it can handle any file and path strings.
2010-10-25 Multiple Added code to change HTML code #mdash to a normal hyphen when source code is retrieved from the Internet.
2010-10-25 RCHGetElementNumber Updated the element definitions in file smf-elements-4.txt because Morningstar revised the mutual fund "Portfolio" page.

I suffer from the demise of "Quotes Plus" data provider, whose price and fundamental data I used in Metastock 6.52 and Excel '97.
Prices/stock quotes and history I get fairly conveniently via MLdownloader, a rather affordable prog, which works OK.
What I do not get is fundamental data for my customized application in Excel'97 where I could plot them after having screened them in "Quotes Plus".
Hence I am interested in an Excel functionality, which is able to download fundamental data, screen and plot them.
Can your application do something like that ?

I would say yes, except for maybe EXCEL '97. I'm not sure its VBA tool has
all of the same functions that the current VBA tool does.
But the add-in could even replace your historical quotes download, since a
single function can grab the current definition of historical quotes from
Yahoo.
Back in the 1980's, I used to download quotes and fundamental data for the
entire market. It was a nightmare to maintain on a daily basis (e.g. split
and dividend adjustments, ticker changes, etc). Now, with the add-in, I
just grab the particular data I want when I need it. Let the data providers
maintain the data -- why should I duplicate their efforts? I just want to
use the data.

In my opinion you would be well served to obtain a legal copy of xl2003 which is the last version that is styled as yours.

I have attached the html and excel file im working with the code in L1 is needed each day to login so i hope you can see, but in sheet1 symbol/row TD/r27,T/r29,CL/r31 my formulas do not pull in the correct data for some reason all others work fine. I cant figure out what is wrong please help!

Each isn't working as desired because your third search string, the
ticker symbol, isn't unique enough to be used as a search string.
-- "TD" could be the next table cell definition it finds
-- "T" can be almost anywhere
-- "CL" could be the next "CLASS=" HTML clause
