[ExcelVBA] slightly OT - use of + key

Hi all

Hope you don't mind for once a non VBA issue.

I have for years started formulas with the plus key (+) rather than an
Equals(=). Excel has always accepted this and converts the + to and = on
the formula bar when you press enter or move.

I can still do that. And it works except on one sheet in one book.

In this one sheet I can enter +6/2 and enter and it displays 3 and the
formula in the formula bar is =6/2. As expected.

However if I type +1/1.4 I get the message "The formula you typed contains
an error" followed by info about how to press the help button etc. When I
click OK the 1.4 is highlighted. It is almost as though the sheet had been
set to work with integers only but it is ok with +1+1.4

I emphasise that this is only on this one sheet. Other sheets in the
workbook are OK - Actually it also exists in the sheet I copied some stuff
into this sheet.

I do not think it is the cell format but that is
#,##0.00_);[Red](#,##0.00);"-"??_-;_-@_-

Any ideas - it drives me nuts not to be able to use keystrokes which are now
automatic!

Best Regards
