This is really strange. I seem to have to remove the added-in then re-establish it if I close the file

I then can get manual messages like =RCHGetElementNumber("Version")to work but I have the #Name? on everything that I don't retype in.

So the =RCHGetElementNumber("Version") will no longer work unless I cut and paste it back.

I'm using Microsoft 2003

It has to be something with the linking but not sure what.

Thanks
Daryll

Also real strange that I can copy paste the same item like: =smfGetADVFNElement('Valuation '!$D$7,"A",10,">cost of sales<") and it will start working again. Seems like once I get the "NAME? error it is looked in this state until I recopy and past.

thanks

I found a way to repeat the problem and fix it.

Everytime I start excel I need to go through the addin process again. Excel seems lose the link everytime I close it. Any ideas?

Try:

- Go in to the add-in manager and uncheck the add-in
- Exit EXCEL (hopefully this will remove any hanging registry pointers
related to the add-in)
- Restart EXCEL
- Go in to the add-in manager and re-add the add-in
- Exit EXCEL (to get a fresh start)
- Restart EXCEL
- Try some of the templates again...

In any case, I'm still confused...

BTW, you will always have unresolved links if you open up a workbook that
had the add-in in a different location. However, once you fix the
unresolved links and save the file, everything should be working when you
re-open the workbook you saved, because the add-in should be in the same
location as when the workbook was saved.

However, it will NOT fix unresolved links you get from opening the same
template again from the FILES area of the Yahoo group. Once you get them
from there, you will always get them from there -- because that workbook
was saved with the add-in in a different location than yours.

If a person is not actually employed by the company, they would not be
classified as an "insider". Rather, they are simply shareholders like you
and me, with large holdings. When a person is both an employee AND a > 5%
shareholder, they fall into both categories. How each data provider
actually tallies their numbers may be different from others.

Thank you for the suggestions and the warning on large individual
stakeholders. I did notice that some sites have different numbers for the
insiders which puzzled me, and I think your note could explain the
disparity. But why would they not include these individuals (with stakes >
5%) if they are insiders?

Best,

Moe

Hello!

It is possible to extract the value "*Your estimated value per share*"
in:
http://www.smartmoney.com/pricecheck/?story=worksheet&symbol=PNC
?
Some one know the formula's to calculate?
I think sometime there are a delay to calculate. It is possible to wait for
this delay and only after get the value?

If some one want to calculate the "Intrisic value", I already have this, if
there are interesting:
I share this:
B4= Stock symbol
=(RCHGetTableCell("http://www.zacks.com/stock/quote/"&B4;1;"EPS Last
Year")*(8.5+2*RCHGetTableCell("http://www.zacks.com/stock/quote/"&B4&"/detailed-estimate";1;"Next
5 Years"))*4.4)/RCHGetTableCell("
http://finance.yahoo.com/bonds/composite_bond_rates";1;"Corporate
Bonds";"20yr AAA")

And this, using other fonts, but the formula are the same:
=(RCHGetTableCell("http://www.zacks.com/stock/quote/"&B4;1;"EPS Last
Year")*(8.5+2*0+smfGetTagContent("
http://money.cnn.com/quote/forecast/forecast.html?symb=
"&B4;"span";1;">Annually";">Annually")*100)*4.4)/RCHGetTableCell("
http://finance.yahoo.com/bonds/composite_bond_rates";1;"Corporate
Bonds";"20yr AAA")

This calculates are based in Graham's Formula: Intrinsic Value = EPS x (8.5
+ 2 G) x 4.4 / Y

But I search for other formula's to calculate the fair value, if someone
know others... but with all formulas...
I try to implement this:
Fair Value Calculator do www.gurufocus.com
http://www.gurufocus.com/fair_value_dcf.php
But I do not yet be able.

Thanks
Jose

As you noted, it calculates after the page is displayed, so the data is
not on the page to be extracted. Your best bet would be to reverse
engineer their calculation. Based on the JavaScript, I think this is it:

function ValuationModel()
{
function geomSeries(rate, b, numPeriods)
{
var amount = 0;
if (rate == 1.0)
amount = numPeriods + 1;
else
amount = (Math.pow(rate, numPeriods + 1) - 1) / (rate - 1);

if (b >= 1)
amount -= geomSeries(rate, 0, b - 1);

return amount;
}

function futureValue(presentValue, rate, numPeriods)
{
return presentValue * Math.pow(1 + rate, numPeriods);
}

function presentValue(futureValue, discountRate, numPeriods)
{
return futureValue / Math.pow(1 + discountRate, numPeriods);
}

this.calcStockPrice = function(eps, short_term_growth_rate,
short_term, long_term_growth_rate, discount_rate)
{
if (long_term_growth_rate > discount_rate)
{
return "perpetual";
}

var short_term_value = eps * geomSeries((1 +
short_term_growth_rate) / (1 + discount_rate), 1, short_term);
var long_term_value = futureValue(eps, short_term_growth_rate,
short_term) * (1 + long_term_growth_rate) / (discount_rate -
long_term_growth_rate);

return short_term_value + presentValue(long_term_value,
discount_rate, short_term);
};

this.calcRiskAdjustedRate = function(beta, riskFreeRate,
benchmarkRate)
{
return (riskFreeRate / 100 + Math.max(.8, Math.abs(beta)) *
(benchmarkRate / 100 - riskFreeRate / 100)) * 100;
};
}

Hi Randy

Downloaded the 12/2 smf-elements-6 file and replaced the old one and it
still does not work. I exited Excel twice and still no luck

Any ideas?

Nevermind!

When I saw the version number of the RCHGetElementNumber file I was using
compared to the one in the WIP folder I put the newer one in my add-in and
it works perfectly now

Thanks!

Can anyone advise me on how to update the Zacks elements. The ones I use mostly are:

848 - Zacks Rank
13873 - Zacks Recommendation
13885 - Average Broker Recommendation
13886 - Avg Brkr recc 1 week ago
13887 - number of anaylsts
850 - Industry Group name
851 - Ind Gr. Rank
852 - Rank in Industry
Finally, I was also pulling the next earnings date with

RCHGetTableCell("http://www.zacks.com/research/report.php?type=estimates&t="&TICKER,1,"Next Report Date")

But that is no longer working as well.

Thanks for any advice.

For the element definitions, take a look at earlier messages today...

For the next earnings date:
