Data fromWeb page

Hi Randy

I think I know the answer to this already but is there a way of using the SMF to pull individual data from the following links?

http://markets.ft.com/ft/markets/reports/FTReport.asp?dockey=GOV-011211

http://markets.ft.com/ft/markets/reports/FTReport.asp?dockey=FTUK-011211

The pages appear to have data in PDF format.

I was looking to do some analysis of the Gilt Equity Ratio and wanted to look at getting data for this.

Thanks

Sadly, that is what I thought. Will have to resort to the old manual input technique!

Thanks for the prompt response. Have a good weekend.

Some scanners can create an Excel spreadsheet from a scanned image - this
would save you the trouble of manual entry.

There are various software packages that convert PDF into other formats,
Word, Excel, etc

Nitro PDF, for one, says it does that. I've used NitroPDF for other things,
not Excel conversion, so can't speak directly to how well it works.

Need Advice on RCHGetYahooHistory

Posted by: "GaryFera" gfera@shaw.ca   GaryFera

Randy, I am having difficulty getting the RCHGetYahooHistory function to work. I have been using your excellent Add In successfully for months but when I try to use this particular function it simply appears that it is not installed since the command is not recognized by Excel.

Can you please give me some guidance on how to determine if in fact this function is installed? Thanks.

Gary

If the add-in is installed, that function is installed.

What problems are you running into?

Randy, the Add In has been installed and working fine for months. I tried downloading the sample spreadsheet that retrieved historical quotes for CLDN for June 1 to July 10, 2006 but keep getting #NAME? errors even when I change the symbol to IBM. I am not sure what I am doing incorrectly.

You probably just have unresolved links causing a location error. See the
"Location Errors" item in the "Links" area of the group. It's an issue with
how EXCEL processes add-in formulas.

I am also having the same issue.

My excel which was working until a month ago, stopped working.

"RCHGetYahooHistory" is producing "#NAME?" for IBM and all other Tickers.

Are you getting when opening a new workbook and entering the formula, or
when opening a template? If the latter, you may just have link errors that
need to be resolved (see "Links" area of group for location errors item).

What do you get with:

=RCHGetElementNumber("Version")

Does anyone know if it is possible to retrieve the following information.

Say my stop loss is 10 as example. How can I find the SPECIFIC DAY OF THE MONTH and the SPECIFIC PRICE IT CLOSED LOWER than my stop loss of 10.

In other words, if LAST Closed is > 10, do nothing.

If LAST Close is <10, and PREVIOUS DAY's Close is >10, find me the Last Close and it's Date.

Is there a formula or function that can accomplish this task? Any comments appreciated.

The most straight-forward way would be to simply download the historical
data and then use helper columns to identify the specific conditions.

I got it to work URL = "http://finviz.com/quote.ashx?t=" + cell.Value + "&ty=c&ta=1&p=d"
End If
I inserted a new column then copy tickers over, Run macro works. Next to see if it works in Reuters or Google.

If you're going to insert a new column, wouldn't it be easier to just use
the HYPERLINK() function?
