Clark, thanks, I just downloaded both versions. They both work well.
However, they both have problems on stocks that were listed after 2007, such
as AGNC.

Since this isn't an SMF addin function is there another place where we can
discuss your spreadsheet? This looks like a tremendous about of work on
your part and we appreciate your willingness to share it.

I know it is asking a lot but for those of us that are not great on
fundamentals could you possibly provide more instructions on how to best
take advantage of these spreadsheet.

For example, using IBM I see this on the Start worksheet

SCORES

Fundamental
72

Financial
56

Average
64

StockScouter Rating
10

-274

I am familiar with stockscouter but not with the other scores and what is
the -274

Thanks,
Kermit

I forgot to give instructions. Open the Start tab and type in the stock
symbol in the upper left cell (Blue) press enter and wait about 30 seconds
or so for the downloads to finish.

Thank you very much for your kindess.
We want to have 10 years financial statments, the goal is the same, find,
analysis, buy and sell.
I want to put some tab into your file, if it's possible, I will sent the
file to your mailbox.
Thanks again!

simple way of getting the data and analyzing it using "web queries". If you
are interested the spreadsheets can be downloaded from the link shown below.
The files to be downloaded are "SA_6.0.4"(Excel 2007-2010), and
"SA_6.0.4(2000) for Excel 97-2003.

Smart Money Financial Statements

Hi Randy.
I couldn't find some template about the SmartMoney Source. I am now working on the financial statements.
1. =RCHGetTableCell("http://www.smartmoney.com/quote/IBM/?story=financials&opt=YI",5,"Depreciation & Amortization Expense")
and =RCHGetTableCell("http://www.smartmoney.com/quote/IBM/?story=financials&opt=YI",5,"Depreciation"), I got the same value. How to solve it?
2. I want to creat element definitions, I make it in txt file name such as:smf-elements-10, then put all the number in it. Or, I must put them into the excel file:RCHGetElementNumber-Element-Definitions.
3. Also, I couldn't find the Marco:smfForceRecalculation, what should I do?

Thanks for your patience.

Answers:

1. Use two search strings for the second item. Both can be
"Depreciation".

2. The XLS file is just documentation. Nothing needs to go into it for
your personal elements.

3. It's in the add-in. But the macro dialog doesn't give you an option
to display macros from add-ins. You need to type out the name.

You can retrieve the first depreciation item with:

=RCHGetTableCell("
http://www.smartmoney.com/quote/IBM/?story=financials&opt=YI
",5,"Depreciation")

...and the second with:

=RCHGetTableCell("
http://www.smartmoney.com/quote/IBM/?story=financials&opt=YI
",5,"Depreciation","Depreciation")

Which function to use for basic company stats from advfn

Posted by: "B B" kokdari82@yahoo.com   kokdari82

Since ADVFN seems to be the most stable of data sources at the moment, I'm trying to extract the basic stats from advfn but I'm having trouble extracting the information with their layout.

http://www.advfn.com/p.php?pid=qkquote&symbol=qsii

Which function would be best to get the company description as well as which stock market it is listed in?

RCHGetTableCell
RCHGetWebData
smfGetTagContent

You can use RCHGetTableCell() for both. However, you're still going to have
to do manual extraction of the data you want because of the way it's
presented (combined with labels, etc).

To retrieve the raw data from the page:

=RCHGetTableCell("http://www.advfn.com/p.php?pid=qkquote&symbol=qsii",0,">Company
Description")
=RCHGetTableCell("http://www.advfn.com/p.php?pid=qkquote&symbol=qsii",0,">Stock
Market")

Then use smfStrExtr() to pull out the pieces you need.

Converting cumulative financial data for quarterly cashflow statemen

Posted by: "redcorolla9999" redcorolla9999@yahoo.com   redcorolla9999

Hi,

In Reuters (and most other sources), the cumulative data is given for the quarterly cash-flow statements.
Does anyone know a good general way to convert this to individual quarters?

This is especially tricky when some of the cumulative data covers over-lapping periods, and the data segments are not uniform.
