I appreciate your answers, Randy. But it seems that I always get stacked with trivial questions: I was able to interact with the InternetExplorer object within VBA. So far, no problem.

But later, when I use smfStrExtr, it seems that inside Excel the cookie is not set. How can I setup the cookie within Excel VBA?

Sorry, but that' not something I want to get into. Although it would need
to be something like what is here:

The SMF addin was working fine for me until I upgraded from IE8 to IE9. I recall having to change something in the internet explorer setting before so the file opens without errors. Does anyone know what IE settings need to change?

Check the AdvFN item in the LINKS area of the group. Also, item 9.4.2.

*I followed the 9.4.2 LINKS instruction and per your comment, I did have to
make the change indicated, but the file still will not update with f9.*
*
*
*I also tried the formulas you gave to another person, in a new sheet:*
=RCHGetElementNumber("Version")
=smfGetAParms(3)
*First one produced:*
Stock Market Functions add-in, Version 2.1.2012.02.02 (C:\Program Files
(x86)\SMF Add-in; 2)
*Second one doesn't show anything (just returns a blank cell).*
*Please advise.*

The add-in may have difficulties if you don't have regional settings set to
U.S.. That determines how VBA does numeric conversions.

What does your formula in cell C4 contain? Do the values in cells B203 and
D34 change when you hit F9?

That's why you're not working -- you need to fix your unresolved links
(that's why you see the path before the function name). See the location
errors item in the LINKS area of the group.

The value in B203 changes to a random number whenever I hit F9.B34 does
not have a Ticker and so D34 returns #NAME? (the same as is returned for
all cells in worksheet).Variable worksheet cells flicker with F9 but
still return #NAME?.OOPS! I changed my regional settings from Canada to
US and now the value in B203 does NOT change when I hit F9!

Hi,
I tried to retrieve the whole table on sectoral perfomance from the formula as below but not able to do it. Thanks for your help and explanation for -1 and 1.

=RCHGetHTMLTable("http://investing.businessweek.com/research/sectorandindustry/overview/sectorlanding.asp",
"Dividend Yield",-1,"",1)

"Performance Price perEarnings(TTM) Price to Sales (TTM) Dividend Yield .......... "

Try:

=RCHGetHTMLTable("
http://investing.businessweek.com/research/sectorandindustry/overview/sectorlanding.asp
","sectorTable",-1,"",1)

...which says to search for "sectorTable" within the source code of the web
page (the "id" of the table), then find the first table tag BEFORE that
string (i.e. -1), and the first ending table tag AFTER that string (i.e. 1).

"Dividend Yield didn't work because they have it coded to break and wrap in
the column, so there was no space in between the words. The other string I
considered for the search was "(TTM)".

Hello!

- I have a error in this command:
B4=CALL
=RCHGetTableCell("http://www.finviz.com/quote.ashx?t="&B4;1;"P/S")
What are wrong?

- In this page:
http://money.cnn.com/quote/forecast/forecast.html?symb=CALL
In below of the page, in Sales, there are "*Growth *annually 35.62%"
Is it possible get the value "35.62"?

Many thanks
Jose

Try:

=RCHGetTableCell("http://www.finviz.com/quote.ashx?t=CALL",1,">P/S")

The reason "P/S" didn't work is because the first occurrence of those three
characters was in a link on the web page that contained: "hel*p/s*creener".

For the other item, try:

=0+smfGetTagContent("
http://money.cnn.com/quote/forecast/forecast.html?symb=CALL
","span",1,">Annually",">Annually")
