Would agree, PortfolioViews are working well! Spent the morning revamping info structure and needs in Excel. Achieving a higher level of efficiency and information as a result.

There is just one data point I can't quite figure out at the moment, Barchart's field number 40, 5Y Div%. Any help would be appreciated.

It was my plan to eventually update RCHGetYahooQuotes(), adding a field-to-field translation. However, as time goes on and people manually convert to smfGetYahooPortfolioView(), I think there is less and less of a need.

I think than reincarnation of RCHGetYahooQuotes() function will be useful. You can give new name e.g. RCHGetYahooInfo2017() and simplify replacing codes with field numbers (as in smfGetYahooPortfolioView-Example file). It gives SMF users significant flexibility.

Unfortunately, both EXCEL and the add-in use the Microsoft Internet engine
to retrieve data from the Internet. So if your IE browser cannot make an
Internet connection, both EXCEL and the add-in should be having similar
problems.

How so?

MMM returns 101% growth. That is what they show on their web page, so the
add-in is grabbing their data "as is":

Thx for the reply and MMM info. With that I now see that it is growth in the Div. Rate over last 5 yrs., 2011-2016. I also checked it with T and VZ and it works out. But I was using AAPL when I inquired and couldn't get it to work out, still can't. I see that AAPL doesn't have a full 5 yrs. of dividend payments thru 2016 so that must have factored in to Barchart's math somehow. Anyway, thanks for looking at and getting back to me. Jim

Hi Randy,

Latest SMF version (11.11.2017) works fine on another computer with good IE. Sorry for the noise I made.

BTW, Morningstar recently created Excel Add-in for users of Morningstar Direct (single license is 16K$ !!!). On the first glance they have good documentation - it is free. I guess experienced SMF Add-In users might learn some tricks there and use it for our favorite tool (SMF).

JCH

Randy,

I thought I had the #NAME? issue fixed! I updated the add-in and removed
the smfFixlinks and smfForceRecalculation macros yesterday and my
spreadsheets worked. I rebooted today and now I get the #NAME? error.

Any trouble shooting tips?

Thanks

Tom

Randy,

I selected ALT+T+I to get the Add-Ins screen. Browsed to the correct
Add-In location (C\SMF\Add-In), and overwrote the existing link. That
fixed it. I don't know why the link would change.

Thanks

Tom

I've tried kicking the tires with RCHGetElementNumber to collect the inception date and expense ratio for ETF's. I tried getting an inception date with "=RCHGetElementNumber(D3, 5065)" in a cell range where column D contains an ETF symbol and received return values of "Undefined".

Have the Yahoo changes killed RCHGetElementNumber or is there something else I need to do? If dead, are the alternative functions which will retrieve inception date and expense ratio?

Thank you.
