Ahh. They changed their domain name, and the old URLs were redirecting to a
Google search instead of to Google Finance.

Hi Randy,

Thank you for this great project. I am trying to set up automated refresh of the data collected via smfGetYahooPortfolioView.. Can you recommend a way this could be implemented.
I have been trying to call smfForceRecalculation, which works one time only after each use the cell right click SMF menu, after which it runs to completion but fails to update the data.

regards

Justin

When the market is open, my last traded date and time change each time I
run the smfForceRecalculation macro.

One issue may be if your Internet Options (for IE) aren't set to always get
a fresh copy of a web page. Since the add-in uses the same Microsoft
Internet engine that IE uses, it would use the IE settings. So if your
Internet Options are set to allow the use of cached pages, the add-in
request for a fresh copy of a web page might end up getting the cached
pages returned, resulting in no update of the data.

Thank you for your response.

I saw your suggestion regarding the IE cache settings in another post and changed them accordingly.

My problem may have something to do with the way I am accessing the smfForceRecalculation macro. Initially I tried to call the smfForceRecalculation macro from my own macro, but got an "unknown function" error. I then coppied the content of the smfUtilities_ module and pasted it into a module in my own project. Now it runs but updates correctly only once after time the gui calls the original function in its original location.

You're probably getting the "unknown function" error because you haven't
set the add-in up as a reference library in your VBA project? You need to
do that for your project to have access to the add-in functions and
subroutines.

If you just copied the one module over, you'll be executing THAT instance
of the function and not the add-in instance of the function. It won't clear
out anything in the add-in's processing of web pages. It's basically just
doing an F9-style recalculate. The whole purpose of the
smfForceRecalculation macro is to have it purge the saved copy of web pages
so that it needs to get a fresh copy. Your instance of the function won't
have access to those saved copies of the web pages.

Hi Randy,

smfGetYahooPortfolioView delivers some values up to 7 digits, i.e. %Chg.: +2.8968236%. Simply reducing the number of digits in Excel format did not work. Is there a way to change it?

I would say that sounds like the data is text data, not numeric data.

When I use the published example, I can increase or decrease the number of
decimals to display. No clue why you can't.

Which version of the add-in are you using? Which field numbers are you
having issues with?
