Hey, Randy. I just wanted to let you know that I've been using the
smfGetBarchartPortfolioData() function now for a few weeks and I absolutely
love it. No issues to report. It has made my data pulls massively easier
and faster. Truly appreciate all you do and happy to assist in anyway I
can in the future. Thanks again and take care!

Thanks Randy. I will try your suggestion. The other option I plan to try is to completely remove the add-in, then delete the directory where it resides, reboot the PC and try a complete reinstall as the Administrative user.

Well, this problem is making me a little crazy. I removed and then reloaded the add-in. The first time I open a spreadsheet and right click a cell, the SMF option in the displayed menu. Every time after that, the SMF option is not displayed. If I use the developer tab, select the modMenu VBA module, set a break point in it near the end of the module and then select "run until cursor", the SMF menu option reappears until I exit Excel. I have to do the same thing the next time I run Excel to get the SMF menu option to appear. So I am concluding that something is preventing the modMenu module from running each time Excel starts on this particular PC. It feels like one of those "run once" issues and I don't understand why it is happening.

I do not believe it is a file permission issue since I tried putting the add-in in a C:\ root directory subdirectory location and then unblocking the .xla file and I also loaded the add-in to the default Excel add-in location, which is in the user's AppData directory under roaming profiles. Nothing makes any difference. Finally, looking at the Auto_Open routine, all it seems to do is use a user defined macro to force the add-in to load and the add-in is already loaded when Excel starts. Any other suggestions?

Your comment on "all it seems to do is use a user defined macro to force
the add-in to load" confuses me. Nothing within the add-in could force it
to load. The add-in is loaded when EXCEL starts up, because it is on the
list of add-ins to load within the add-in manager.

When it is loaded, the Auto_Open routine should run, because that's a
special name EXCEL recognizes as a routine to be run upon a particular
event (i.e. the object being opened).

You could try putting a break point within the Auto_Close routine. It
unloads the SMF menu. Maybe something is causing it to run prematurely?

Sorry for the confusion on my part. I will add breakpoints to both the Auto_Open and Auto_Close subroutines in modMenu after the calls to smfAddToCellMenu and smfDeleteFromCellMenu so I can see when the cell menu is loaded and unloaded.

One question and one Ah Ha!

The Ah Ha! is that I found the difference between the two PCs. The one where the SMF context menu choice appears also had an add-in installed from the Microsoft Store called Stock Connector. I tried to use it but dropped it when I found out it could not retrieve Mutual fund prices. As soon as I removed Stock Connector, the SMF context menu choice disappeared, so now the behavior is consistent across both PCs - the SMF context menu choice does not appear unless I open the Developer tab and forcibly execute the modMenu module.

Now for the question. Since your add-in loads when Excel starts and before I can open the VBA Developer tab, how do I set a breakpoint in the Auto_Open and Auto_Close subroutines of modMenu that will persist until the next time I start Excel? I hope this question makes sense. My initial reaction is to save a renamed copy of your .xla file with the breakpoints and then use it temporarily as the add-in to load when Excel starts up.

Thanks for being so patient with me.

I don't know of any way to save a break point between sessions, since an
entirely new VBA environment would exist.

It's bizarre to me that the add-in is loading, but not running the
Auto_Open routine. Either something is intercepting it, or something is
stopping within it. Hmm. You could add a MsgBox() to the start of the VBA
routine, to do a popup when it starts? That would persist between sessions.

When I right-click in an Excel "table", the SMF context menu is not shown. Outside of the table, it displays normally. Perhaps an Excel feature, not a bug?

What type of "table" are you referring to? It certainly could be that
certain EXCEL features use their own special context menu and ignore any
customizations made to the regular context menu.

What type of "table" are you referring to? It certainly could be that certain EXCEL features use their own special context menu and ignore any customizations made to the regular context menu.

Yeah. Formatting the range as a table means several items are changed in
the context menu. So they must add those options to the "default" context
menu instead of the current one.

Hi Randy and Gurus,

I am trying to get the M* Fair Value, Consider Buying and Consider Selling (RCHElementNumber 886,887 and 88) respectively, but getting an 'Error' value. I also tested with smfTagContent also, but get the same result.

I have a premium account with Morninstar and I have ensured that I am logged-in to Morningstar before using the functions. I have also tried to Log-in to Morningstar by EXCEL Web Query dialog (alt+d+d+w).

I have IE11 and I do not know how to set the Security cookie.

Can you please let me know if there is a mistake I am making? This used work fine previously.

As always, thanks in advance to you.
