I just gave TMXMoney a try. Since you can create a portfolio, it should be possible to pull up the dividends on a list of stocks at once. I only have 1 Canadian stock, so it isn't something I need, but it should be able to give you access to multiple fields if you set your custom view correctly. What you cannot do is add ex-div date or payment date to your custom portfolio view, which is a shame.
Cheers,Higrm

Yahoo isn't a good source for dividends with TSX (Can) stocks. Only good for basic quotes (last, chg, etc.)

MorningStar is better - but not perfect.

TMXmoney has the best data.

With MorningStar and TMXmoney there's no quick option. One quote at a time.

I use TMXmoney to get the info online. But its not possible to pull the data into an Excel sheet using smf addin or any other method, is it?

Not sure what you're asking. Something like this works fine for me:

=RCHGetTableCell("https://web.tmxmoney.com/quote.php?qm_symbol=BNS",1,">Ex-Div
Date")

Randy,

smfGetYahooPortfolioView() does NOT work for Mutual Funds..

=smfGetYahooPortfolioView("PTTRX,TLH","0115";,,1)

Please help.

Thanks,
Maunang

Works fine for me. I get:

Symbol Last Price
PTTRX 10.29
TLH 136.8899

Are you using version 2017.11.11 of the add-in?

=RCHGetElementNumber("Version")

Hi Randy,

Thanks for the info. I replaced everything in my excel with smfGetYahooPortfolioView(), but it does not work for mutual fund ticker symbols.

Please help.

I just tried the example workbook, and they seem to work for me:

01 15 87 17
*Ticker Symbol* *Symbol* *Last Price* *Last Traded Date/Time* *Change*
VFINX VFINX $240.40 2017-11-22 08:00:28 PM -$0.16
VWEAX VWEAX $5.92 2017-11-22 08:00:29 PM $0.01

Do I need a new plugin for that?

Yes, but now you'd use the smfGetYahooPortfolioView() function, as indicated by the coded example and the worksheet example on the blog.

Or you could use the Google method described on the blog.

Not sure what you're asking about.

smfGetYahooPortfolioView() would require you to update the add-in to the
most recent release. The Google method would not, as smfGetCSVFile() is an
existing function.

I've installed the updated add-in files on two PCs. On the first one everything works fine. On the second, I do not see the SMF option in the context menu when I right click on a cell within the array formula range. The spreadsheet does update, however, when first loaded. I checked file permissions on both PCs and the directory where the add-in files are located seems to be the same on both PCs as to name, location, and file permissions. Any ideas what I messed up when I installed on the second PC. Also, I copied the spreadsheet I'm using from the first PC to a flash drive and then put it on the second PC. The spreadsheet is located in a standard user's Documents directory on each PC. Thanks for any suggestion anyone can offer on how to fix things on the second PC.

What does this return on each computer:

=RCHGetElementNumber("Version")

Hello all,

Does somebody know how to retrieve competitor data?
I'm looking for ROA, ROE, ROIC data v.s. competitors and/or industry.

Can anybody help me out with this?

Many thanks in advance!

Regards,
Rico

You can grab some competitor info from MorningStar with something like:

=RCHGetHTMLTable("
http://financials.morningstar.com/competitors/industry-peer-data.action?type=com&t=MMM
","P/S",-1,"",1)

...but not the metrics you mention.

I know most of my tools that I use, don't require constantly up to date pricing. Yahoo was always at least 15 minutes behind, but that was fine for things like trade books and portfolio views. My trading of course is done off of RT data, but research and reporting I realized that a lot of times it was after hours anyway...

So the point of my rambling is that since I had to rebuild everything, I took a look at how could I make things better and less reliant on one data feed like Yahoo. Well thanks to some helpful people in here, I have come up with a solution! I have played with a group of connected spreadsheets from Pete and his TtP-S group. That caused me to learn how he did it and I now have a collection of sheets that inter-connect to re-use data instead of always pulling the same data a gazillion times. (see Randy I have been listening over the years!)

I've now taken it a step farther, by using Randy's portfolio view updates, Pete's handy spreadsheet that grabs data for all your tickers with the click of a button (based on the portfolio view) and then I've changed all my spreadsheets to grab price, name and other items as needed from that sheet.

I did have to fix a bit of code in the example spreadsheet that Pete posted, but so far, not only does it work slick, they're all faster. So, I'm going to see if I can clean out any personal data and post an example as I think it would be a help to make sure that Yahoo doesn't pull any more plugs when all that old traffic moves over to a new area...

Cheers,

Mel
