The LINKS area of the Yahoo group has now been moved to the SMF website:

http://ogres-crypt.com/SMF/Tips-and-FAQs/

The two tips you should take a look at are:

Link <http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/smf_addin/message/10464>AdvFN.001
- A possible fix for "Error" responses from AdvFN due to a change from a
Windows Update.
Link<http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/smf_addin/message/21069>AdvFN.002
- A workaround for AdvFN users that get redirected to one of their regional
domains
...except that you would use "in" instead of "uk" for the advice in the
second link.

Remember that you need to exit EXCEL before making those changes. When you
restart EXCEL, it should load all the new settings. And hopefully work.

Actually, the URL I should have given you for testing redirection is:

http://www.advfn.com/p.php?pid=financials&mode=quarterly_reports&symbol=MMM

If you need the "in" prefix, that should redirect you to:

http://in.advfn.com/exchanges/NYSE/MMM/financials?mode=quarterly_reports

If you don't need the "in" prefix, it shoulld redirect you to:

http://www.advfn.com/exchanges/NYSE/MMM/financials?mode=quarterly_reports

Randy,
Finally found one feature of the YAHOO File system that is useful to me. Below is an example. Essentially, it notifies me whenever ANYONE posts a file to the group, keeping me up on what's happening without constantly having to look at the folders for last updated dates.

Will you be making an update to the YAHOO Group Files when you post to ogrecrypt?

Pete A

I've never received anything like that for any of the Yahoo groups I'm in.
How did you get it?

I'll have to think about how to do something like that, once things are
stabilized.

if I bought 200 shares at 7.45 and its now 16.45 a share how many shares would I need to sell for basis.
I like would a formula box to move around spreadsheet. Thanks, what happened old search box on this site.

Surely, you can calculate that

PS = purchased shares
PP = Purchase price
S = Sell price

PS * PP/ SP

(200 * 7.45) / 16.45 = 91

Like Kermit said, that should be simple enough to compute yourself. That's
what EXCEL is for.

For searching the message archive, just use the search box at the top. You
should see that it says, "Search Conversations"...

My Hard drive is dying does any have an opinion on a good SSD? I have been looking 500GB SSD.

Really, how do you know it is dying?

Personally, I recommend you have a smaller system hard drive. Only install the windows on it and put everything else on an external hard drive.

But that's just my opinion.

Windows 7 S.m.a.r.t says it is and F2 on restart. I have a 1tb and I use only 21% of drive so an Samsung SSD 500gb drive is 279 at Amazon. But, want to know if others are using ssd's in their systems.

SSD's are great but whatever you don't upgrade to Windows 8.1 as it does
not play nicely with SSD's and freezes every now and then. Access speeds
also significantly slower than for Windows 7 & 8.

Hi! I am also having problems in Excel 2010. When I run the RCHGetYahooHistory formula, it retrieves all the Column Titles (Ticker, Date, Open, etc), iT returns the Ticker, the date, but no other items! ie. I don't get the Open price, the close price, nothing. When I try to run this in any other computer, it works. Below is the formula I'm using, and I've attached the example sheet:

=+RCHGetYahooHistory("AAPL";2014;1;1;2014;3;6;"m";"TDOHLCVA")

Other RCH formulas work, such as the RCHGetYahooQuotes.

I have been using this for years and I am really confused by what may be happening and how to solve it.

Thank you in advance!
Luis

Your workbook works fine here. I suspect it has something to do with the
regional settings on your computer. The RCHGetYahooHistory() function
attempt to convert a date from a string value into an EXCEL serial date. If
the regional settings are set to expect a different format of a date in
string value, it will probably abort the function.
