Hi -
Try this: go to "Groups" (top of screen), then "All My Groups", and check the "preferences". If you're lucky, these links might be a shortcut:
++ https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/all/list
++ https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/all/preferences

You'll find email preferences that include notifications.

If you can run scripts on your host, there are ways to be informed of file changes.

HTH - regards - tbs

when you upload a file, just select the option to inform the group!

I've never received anything like that for any of the Yahoo groups I'm in. How did you get it?

I'll have to think about how to do something like that, once things are stabilized.

That's the point. My file uploads will now be to my website, not the Yahoo
group.

You could keep just one file on Yahoo that described any updates to your website file collection. That way you wouldn't have to create your own method. This file could even be a historical record of changes.

That said, these notifications may be less useful if you implement some sort of auto-update. That's one of the more useful parts of this notification.

Theoretically, anyone could grab the CSV file from the website and look for
updates.

I just updated some files on the website and generated this from the CSV
file:

*Folder* *Filename* *Notes* Templates
RCHGetElementNumber-Template-Yahoo-Key-Statistics.xls Renamed; Added
element #1285 (Next Earnings Date); Added Sector and Industry names
Templates SMF-Template-Barchart-Technical-Indicators.xls Added elements
#701-721 Works-In-Progress 0-Change-log.html Fixed elements
#701-703/709/715; Added elements #718-721 Works-In-Progress
RCHGetElementNumber-Element-Definitions.xls General updates; Added elements
#718-721 Works-In-Progress smf-elements-9.txt Fixed elements
#701-703/709/715; Added elements #718-721

Yes, but, a "pull" solution requires the user to take action. A "push" alerts them. Pushing notices, or alerting them to element definition updates automatically, is a useful thing and is why so many software products use that technique.

Randy,
RE: I've never received anything like that for any of the Yahoo groups I'm
in.
How did you get it? (an automatic summary of FILE uploads (not message
uploads).

I had a heck of a time finding out how I did this! My old brain had totally
forgotten, and searches led to the wrong stuff. But it is SO useful to me!
Getting a digest of file uploads from all my group memberships.

Finally, I found this:
https://help.yahoo.com/kb/groups/SLN2530.html?impressions=true
Hopefully, that still works! Yahoo has screwed up their groups so much,
that it may sink the company.

Just in case the link doesn't work (I might never find this instruction
again!) here's the content:
Updates Email options
The "Updates Email" is a single email that keeps you up to date with all
activities (except for messages) from the last 24 hours across all of your
Yahoo groups, including:
* New photos
* New members (in groups with less than 100 members)
* New links
* New files
* New polls
* New database tables
Enabling Updates Emails
1. Sign in to Yahoo Groups <http://groups.yahoo.com/> .
2. Click All My Groups.
3. Click Email Preferences.
4. Click Edit next to the email address you use for your groups.
5. Select Send Daily Updates Email.
6. Click Save.
Disabling Updates Emails
1. Sign in to Yahoo Groups <http://groups.yahoo.com/> .
2. Click All My Groups.
3. Click Email Preferences.
4. Click Edit next to the email address you use for your groups.
5. Deselect Send Daily Updates Email.
6. Click Save.
Tip: You can also disable the Updates Email by clicking Unsubscribe from
Email Updates at the bottom of each Updates Email.

The best hard drive recovery and maintenance utility is Spinrite from grc.com.

It has saved me many times from headaches of dropped boot sectors, etc.
