I bought one of these from Amazon in Oct '13. So far, I have been
happy with it:

Samsung Electronics 840 Pro Series 2.5-Inch
256 GB SATA 6GB/s Solid State Drive MZ-7PD256BW

Was it easy to move OS to SDD and/or backup files to SSD? How did you move software from old drive to SSD? Did you do it yourself or a tech guy do it?

Randy, when you upload a file to your new site will it have the update date shown?

If so, folks can use the upload date to determine if they have the latest.

You could, also, change your naming convention to include either a version number or the date or both.

I would prefer you do the naming convention with version number but to do that you might want to zip all uploads. That way the upload have the file naming not the individual files.

Sorry, I have not been following the activity about the new site. I did see you were getting good feedback from others though.

For templates and documentation, yes.

The CSV file has it all.

I just took a look at the website. I think you can solve the problem of tracking updates by putting a short paragraph in the SMF add-in Top-Level Directory
Explaining how to check for the latest updates. Then point them to the file that contains the listing of updates. Sorted by latest update date.

Since you won't know who is accessing your site , it would be impossible to notify users when there is an update. Are you planning to keep the yahoo group? I am assuming you will otherwise how will folks get help from you or other users?

You could add a macro in SMF to do an update check of the RCHGetElementNumber-Element-Definitions version and check the dates of the individual files in the smf-addin location.
This could be executed automatically or on user demand. I'm sure you probably know better than I on how to do such a function.

If automatic you would want to set a switch in a file to contain the last update check. I, personally, would prefer the automatic update check and the ability for the user to specify at what interval to check, daily, weekly, or monthly. The default should be weekly in my opinion. You could popup a window that notifies the user - they are not current and give them an option to update or defer the update.

I went to the site and I did not see an unload by member folder. How will we upload user files? Sorry, I may have missed that question by not following this subject closely.

That's the CSV file available on the first page. You can manipulate it to
your heart's content in EXCEL.

The top-level page directs people to the Yahoo group for questions or

What need is there to update it locally? Just always access the Internet
copy.

When I go for templates or documentation, I mostly use the Yahoo group
files now as a source. Partially to make sure I'm using what you guys use,
instead of what I have on my machine.

The only reason I have to access my local copies is if I plan to make an
update to them. Which I can then upload.

I just added the ability to read the element definitions from the Internet.
Takes a bit longer, about 3 seconds. But, typically, it only gets done
once, so that's not too bad.

That will stay in the Yahoo group.

Could anyone, please shed light on using RCHGetTableCell to work backwards from a fixed string and picking up the values preceding it ?

Documentation of this function at the new Ogre site (Randy, this is great, btw!)
http://ogres-crypt.com/SMF/Documentation/viewer.php?name=RCHGetTableCell-Function.html http://ogres-crypt.com/SMF/Documentation/viewer.php?name=RCHGetTableCell-Function.html does not give an example (or ability of the function) to work backwards.

And lastly, why backwards ? Because, I'm only looking for the last 5 years worth of data. I can't use the forward search approach because some companies start at say 2010 (so the first value obtained here will be different from the first value of a company with 2004 as first value)

Oh, and Randy, could this answer please be included in the documentation of that function ?

For eg: on Gurufocus http://www.gurufocus.com/financials/A http://www.gurufocus.com/financials/A there are 10-year financials.

I'm looking to pick up the last 5 year's worth of data for "Revenue" and also "Total Inventories"
Since Revenue occurs in the Income Statement section, I would have to make RCHGetTableCell use TTM as an end marker and work backwards for 5 columns worth of data (thus getting Oct13 through Oct09).
And since Total Inventories occurs in the Balance Statement section, I would have to make RCHGetTableCell use "Latest Q." as an end marker and work backwards.
Thank you.

BTW, here are my attempts and english explanations of what I was expecting to happen: 1) =RCHGetTableCell("http://www.gurufocus.com/financials/A",-1,">Income Statement",">Revenue",,,,"TTM")
Here: Cell# = -4 ; Find1 = >Income Statement ; Find2 = >Revenue ; Find3/Find4/Row# are blank and EndMarker is TTM.
I was expecting the function to:
1) Load the URL
2) Find string Find1 in page (ie: go to Income Statement section)
3) From this found string, look ahead left of page to right of page (like one's eyes track words while normally reading a page) and find Find2 (ie: Revenue),
4) Then set as EndMarker the phrase: "TTM"
5) And now work backwards -1 to get to value just before end of marker which should be the Revenue figure for Oct13 (since it is just before TTM).
Unfortunately, I get a blank value at this point.

The problem is that a negative value of "pCell" says to work from the end
of the row after the function is positioned using the one to four search
strings. Not backwards from where it's been positioned. That is, it next
searches for "</tr>" and then works backwards from there.

"EndMarker" is basically ignored when a negative value of "pCells" is used.
It's use is primarily intended for the use of the "pRows" parameter, to
make sure the table row being skipped to is not beyond a certain point.

However, the REAL issue here is that the table is coded improperly. Each
row is not ended by the "</tr>" tag, which is what the negative value of
"pCell" uses to position itself after your two search strings. The first
"</tr>" tag is on a spacer row following the "Gross Profit" line item. It
has 3 table cells, all blank. You picked up the last one.

Having said that, because of the improperly coded table rows, I think the
smfGetTagContent() function would work better. For example, try:

=smfConvertData(smfGetTagContent("http://www.gurufocus.com/financials/A","div",-2,">Income
Statement",">Revenue","ttm"))

Randy, just a nit, the TableCell documentation says Cell# can only move forward. The GetTag documentation says Tag# can move forward or backward.

Frankly, I could not get a negative number to work in Cell# for his example. I thought it was because it wasn't supported but now I know it was because the table was coded poorly.
