Another extraction from Yahoo that no longer works:

=smfGetTagContent("http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s="&A3,"td",1,"Prev Close:",,,,1)

I can't test it, but it looks like the new URL is:

http://finance.yahoo.com/quote/AAPL

...and the label is now "Previous Close"...

I tried some variations on that but they did not work. I decided to download the previous day's close from MarketWatch, which is a lot more stable than Yahoo.

I noticed this extraction doesn't work as well. Any help would be much appreciated.

The JSON data used to populate the page is here:

https://query1.finance.yahoo.com/v10/finance/quoteSummary/AAPL?modules=assetProfile,secFilings,calendarEvents

Randy,

That did the trick. Thank you for your help on this and all you do with this ad-on in general.

Really amazing stuff.

Is it possible to pull data items for this morningstar page? Looking for a new source for fund data after the changes at Yahoo.

http://quicktake.morningstar.com/FundNet/PrintReport.aspx?Symbol=SAAAX http://quicktake.morningstar.com/FundNet/PrintReport.aspx?Symbol=SAAAX

Thanks

You should be able to use RCHGetTableCell() to pull data from those web
pages, but I think M* will probably dump the "print report" pages in the
near future.

Thanks Randy. Would you happen to have a similar URL that gets the list of
all industries, as was available at
https://biz.yahoo.com/ic/ind_index_alpha.html until recently, and also a
list of stocks within a given industry?

For stocks within a given sector or industry group, this appears to be the
JSON call format:

https://query2.finance.yahoo.com/v1/finance/screener/predefined/saved?scrIds=technology&start=0&count=1000

https://query2.finance.yahoo.com/v1/finance/screener/predefined/saved?scrIds=semiconductor_equipment_materials&start=0&count=1000

As for the sector and industry group names, I don't see a good list
anywhere. The best I can find is within the Javascript code for starting a
new screen:

http://finance.yahoo.com/screener/new

Not sure if this helps... On page: https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/AAPL/profile https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/AAPL/profile

I find sector and industry in:
<p class="D(ib) Va(t)"><span>Sector</span><!-- react-text: 3426 -->: <!-- /react-text --><strong>;Consumer Goods</strong>;<br><span>Industry</span><!-- react-text: 3430 -->: <!-- /react-text --><strong>;Electronic Equipment</strong><br><span>Full Time Employees</span><!-- react-text: 3434 -->: <!-- /react-text --><strong>;<span>116,000</span></strong></p>

I did notice that 878 and 877 work to get them from Morningstar which helps in the interim.

I am not getting pricing on most of my option positions. For example:
=smfGetGoogleOptionQuote("AMD","C",DATE(2018,1,19),20,"a")
this does not work. Could somebody offer a work around or an alternative?

Thanks
Bob

Google doesn't carry that contract. They are usually pretty spotty. I've
been using Barchart lately, at least before when I still had EXCEL running
on my now defunct desktop.

The version of SMF that I am using goes back to July of 2015. Therefore, I thought it was a good time to update my version of SMF. I downloaded the files from here:
http://ogres-crypt.com/SMF/ http://ogres-crypt.com/SMF/

I then unzipped them into a local directory. From inside Excel, I brought up the add-on manager and unchecked SMF so it was no longer active. I then put SMF back, getting a message saying you do you want to overwrite the old one. I said yes. After updating the spread sheet, it still shows that I am using the old one. What did I do wrong?

You should exit EXCEL when updating the SMF files...
