Hi Randy,

Could you help me with bringing the EUR/SGD exchange rate from "http://www.reuters.com/finance/currencies/quote?srcAmt=1.00&srcCurr=EUR&destAmt=&destCurr=SGD" . Hopefully you can help.

Thanks,

Tommy

Why not just get it from Yahoo current quotes, with:

=RCHGetYahooQuotes("EURSGD=X","l1")

Hi Randy,

Thanks a lot. Works great.

Thanks Randy,.
=RCHGetElementNumber("Version") returns the below..

| Stock Market Functions add-in, Version 2.1.2017.05.03 (C:\SMF Add-in; Windows (32-bit) NT 6.01; 15.0; ; Local; 1) |

When I put in -
    =smfPricesByDates("IBM", DATE(2007,1,1))
or
   =smfPricesByDates("IBM", "1/1/2007")
I get #N/A on both cells..
Am running Office 2013, if that makes a difference..
As stated, all other APIs appear to work without an issue. Only the date related ones seem to fault out on me..
Thanks!

These two examples from the documentation currently work for me:

First, check the version of the add-in you're running:
=RCHGetElementNumber("Version")

-- #NAME? would mean the function is not available. -- #NA being returned would mean the date isn't valid.-- "Error" can be any variety of things, as could the blanks.

I feel like the odd man out here, so I suspect I'm missing something simple..

I've pulled in the latest Beta version of the XLA, and all the APIs work well for me except for the ones that pull info by date. The samples don't work, much less any simple ones I try..

When I open the RCHGetYahooHistory or smfPricesByDates samples off the site, open and update them, I get either empty cells, #NAME?, #NA or Error

All the other APIs work without an issue..

I have the Add-In located at C:\SMF Add-In
I've got the Add-In installed properly, as other APIs (RCHGetYahooQuotes, RCHGetElementNumber) work without issue..

In the samples, where both RCHGetYahooQuotes and smfPricesByDates exist, RCHGetYahooQuotes works great, but smfPricesByDates fails..
Any insight?

You're not using the latest beta version. You're using the 2017.05.03
version, which was the last official release. Yahoo historical quotes (and
smfPricesByDates) stopped working for that in late May, when Yahoo revamped
their historical quotes. See:

2017-05-18 announcement:

Yahoo historical quotes is till in a state of flux.

"Yahoo historical quotes is till in a state of flux." Randy, to cut to the chase, is this because Yahoo/Verizon is still changing how they deliver price data, etc. which they will eventually be done with, or is there something more unsolvable going on?

It seems progress is being made but already you've been at this for months. Do you hold out hope you can relax one day soon as all your great work is done and complete?

The "state of flux" is primarily two things:

1. How they are adjusting data for dividends. They keep changing what
they're doing, trying to improve things. Some things they do improve, but
others they make worse. Right now, I do more or less trust daily closing
quotes. But not periods such as weekly or monthly, and not O/H/L (see the
7/1 status post).

2. There still seem to be dates loaded with "null" data. A lot of ETFs were
rampant with them. But even some new dates this month have shown up from
time to time.

The question at this point -- do I change my O/H/L adjustments based on
what they are currently doing, then release it as an "official release",
and fix things (if needed) later? I'm not expecting any more changes from
them in the short term...but I could be wrong.

I'm probably doing something wrong but I keep getting "undefined" when suing RCHGetElementNumber. Specifically, I was trying =RCHGetElementNumber("BWP";,621). I also tired doing some of the examples and I still get "undefined". I'm using Version 2.1.2017.06.09 so I don't think that's the problem.

That means you don't have the element definition files (i.e.
smf-elements-*.txt) in the same folder as the XLA file. All of the element
definitions are in external files, so you get "Undefined" if the
definitions can't be loaded.

Did you download the XLA file without downloading and unzipping the ZIP
file? The beta XLA only replaces the XLA file that is in the ZIP file. You
still want all of the other files.

Hi Randy,

I updated the security settings in IE and the data that wasn't coming through before comes through now.

Thanks!

Randy:

Thanks for this tip. Changing a few columns to Array formulas seems to have solved the problem. I must now be under the Yahoo threshold sniffer relating to number of requests by IP address. Glad to have the spreadsheet working again.
