Randy, I've been away for a couple of months and am using the files from late April. I am only using the

smfgetyahoohistory

function. Saw that you have updated several times and about to update my files. I used to use RCH.

Q: should I still be using SMF instead of RCH and has it gotten any faster? My spreadsheets went from calculating in 10 seconds to two minutes.

As always, you're awesome.

The new norm for Yahoo is that the historical quotes requests are taking
about 5-10 times longer than before. For me, they now average just over a
second each. So 10 seconds to 120 seconds seems a bit high to me, but not
that far out of range...

I always use the smfGetYahooHistory() function, because
RCHGetYahooHistory() just calls it anyway.

In the last couple of months with all the Yahoo changes, more frequently I'm finding my sheet not updating. Sometimes running the SMFForceRecalcuation macro solves my problem, but not always. Other times I have to exit excel and re-enter..... or sometimes it just starts working the next day (frequently Yahoo related).
I also sometimes find if I need to run for lots of tickers, I'll run for many of them, run the macro, then do more, than the macro........

Is there any other macro or step I can build into macro that may work more regularly than the SMFForceRecalculation?

Thank in advance for any suggestions Randy. Many many thanks.

smfForceRecalculation resets everything, so there would be no reason to run
it incrementally. The add-in extracts data from saved copies of web pages.
The macro purges all of those saved web pages, forcing the add-in to
retrieve new copies and extract the data from those fresh copies.

Exiting and restarting would also purge all of those saved web pages as
well, because the VBA environment is initialized when EXCEL starts up.

Having said that, EXCEL and the add-in use Microsoft routines to access the
Internet, the same ones used by Internet Explorer, so IE settings, cookies,
and temporary files apply. It could be your Internet Options aren't set to
always get fresh copies of web pages, so cached pages in the temporary
files are being used.
