This brings me to a login page...

If you can't create a bookmark that goes directly to the web page, the
add-in won't be able to access the data.

Nope. Not unless it would change the URL.

You could import only those table cells you want, using the
RCHGetTableCell() function. For example:

=RCHGetTableCell("
http://www.klse.my/stock/result/financial/last10fy/3107.jsp",1,"Last 10 FY
Result",">Revenue")

I see no table on that web page. But it does indicate an error:

"Your search text ("=STOCKNO") did not match any stock. Please enter a
different search text and try again."

ohh, the =stockno is set by myself, as I refer that part of link to a "name" I've created for a cell reference..

so actually the =stockno can be replace with lets say 5053

as for creating a bookmark to the webpage, which website are you referring to?

That's the source web page that the CSV file comes from. Not the CSV file I
gave you to use earlier. So you're telling the function to process a web
page as if it were a CSV file. Won't work.

Try:

=RCHGetHTMLTable("http://klse.i3investor.com/servlets/stk/fin/5053.jsp","Annual
Result:",1,"",1)

=RCHGetHTMLTable("http://klse.i3investor.com/servlets/stk/fin/5053.jsp","Quarter

Hi,

Are there other options for smfstrExtr to specify the end of a string other than a tilde? (~)

I have an output string enclosed with parenthesis () if the value is negative. Using the tilde (~) option results in the right paren included in the string. Positive numbers work okay; just negatives with the parens are the issue.

This is the function in text format:
=smfstrExtr(smfGetTagContent("http://www.ftportfolios.com/retail/dp/dpprice.aspx?fundid=10277","td",39),"$","~")

This is the result from the function in text format:
<img src="/Common/Images/mktdown.bmp" border="0"> -0.26178% ($0.0222)

This is the actual function output:
0.0222)

I'm looking for a way to specify a character limit or a way to drop the ) from the result.

Thanks.

I'm confused -- why are you extracting to the end of the string instead of
to the right parenthesis?

Here is what I would do:

=smfConvertData(smfStrExtr(smfGetTagContent("
http://www.ftportfolios.com/retail/dp/dpprice.aspx?fundid=10277
","td",39),"$",")"))

I added the smfConvertData() function so that it will convert the extracted
string into a numeric value. If it's not a numeric value, smfConvertData()
would just leave the string as-is.

Hmmm. Would a positive amount NOT have parentheses?

If so, this should work for both positive and negative values:

=smfConvertData(smfStrExtr(smfGetTagContent("
http://www.ftportfolios.com/retail/dp/dpprice.aspx?fundid=10277
","td",39),"%","~"))

The smfConvertData() recognizes that the parentheses around a number make
it negative, and will ignore the dollar sign on the value.

P.S. You REALLY are skipping exactly 39 table cells? That works every time?
I'm surprised.
