Ah yes thanks.

Am I missing something here?

Why is it that the SMFGetYahooHistory displays the columns with the earliest date at the top of the array, whilst Google and Barchart and I assume MSN display the latest date at the top?

I am looking specifically at the way your Yahoo function pulls and displays the historic data in SMFTech example.

RCHGetYahooHistory() can sort the data either way. The default is to go
from the latest date at the top, just like the others. But SMFTech() can
only take it in one direction, so the historical date is sorted early to
late in that template..

Check the location error entry in the "Links" area of the group...

Did you type in the path in front of the function? If so, why?

Thanks Randy.
I have not put it manually but I tried to update the link since I was
getting the error when I opened the file...

When I remove the location as per the Links details, The cell shows Date.
Where is the file (if generated ) stored..
Thanks,
Sudhir

You need to array-enter the formula over a range to get the data into the
worksheet.

If you just enter it into a single cell, you just get the first row and
first column of the CSV file.

The file is stored on the Internet.

I see, but when trying to sort the Google data it says you "cannot change part of an array".

I assume then that the Yahoo data is sorted using vba when grabbing the data before it is displayed in the cells?

You'd need to convert the Google data to values before sorting it.

And, yes, the Yahoo data is sorted via the VBA code before returning the
array via the function invocation.

Previous posts indicate last year Stockhouse.com stopped listing stock scores. I'd like to continue using the Signal StockScore and Sentiment StockScore scores from http://www.stockscores.com/quickreport.asp?ticker=ewz

but have an error in my formula
=RCHGetTableCell("http://www.stockscores.com/quickreport.asp?ticker="&C2,1,">Signal StockScore")

I was also wanting to display the gif in the excel sheet that is to the left of each score (ex.
images/neutral_large.gif
images/bullish_large.gif

I'm also looking to download data from the volume/momentum and moving average tabs of the page. I appreciate any help.

I don't get an "Error" with your sample formula below. It's just that they
have extraneous data in the table cell.

As examples:

B4: EWZ
B6: Signal Stockscore
B7: Sentiment Stockscore
B9: 20 Day Avg
B10: 15 Day Trend

C6: =RCHCreateComment("http://www.stockscores.com/
"&smfStrExtr(smfGetTagContent("
http://www.stockscores.com/quickreport.asp?ticker=
"&$B$4,"td",0,">"&$B6),"src=""",""""),99,12,12,1,,,,,"")
C7: =RCHCreateComment("http://www.stockscores.com/
"&smfStrExtr(smfGetTagContent("
http://www.stockscores.com/quickreport.asp?ticker=
"&$B$4,"td",0,">"&$B7),"src=""",""""),99,12,12,1,,,,,"")
C10: =RCHCreateComment("http://www.stockscores.com/
"&smfStrExtr(smfGetTagContent("
http://www.stockscores.com/quickreport.asp?ticker=
"&$B$4,"td",1,$B10),"src=""",""""),99,12,12,1,,,,,"")

D6: =0+smfGetTagContent("http://www.stockscores.com/quickreport.asp?ticker=
"&$B$4,"b",2,">"&$B6)
D7: =0+smfGetTagContent("http://www.stockscores.com/quickreport.asp?ticker=
"&$B$4,"b",2,">"&$B7)
D9: =RCHGetTableCell("http://www.stockscores.com/quickreport.asp?ticker=
"&$B$4,1,$B9)
D10: =RCHGetTableCell("http://www.stockscores.com/quickreport.asp?ticker=

Good morning Randy,
I am trying to extract Sector and Industry Classifications from the following site:"http://tmx.quotemedia.com/company.php?qm_symbol=AAV".

I have tried all sorts of combinations using both RCHGetHTMLTable and
RCHGetTableCell without success.

Using element numbers 13865 and 13867 is not an option because Sector Industry classifications do not match with what's showing on the tmx website. The mismatch is not restricted solely to AAV.

Any suggestions on how to get it done would be appreciated.

Thanks and Regards.

Can't do it, sorry. I can see the web site fine in FireFox, but if I try to
use EXCEL's Web Query dialog, it says that Internet Explorer cannot access
the web site. If IE can't access the site, the add-in won't be able to
access the site, since they both use the same MicroSoft Internet protocol.

Randy, I can see that site just fine in Excel Web Query (and IE). In fact,
I used W/Q to place that whole web page in my worksheet and I saw it fine -
including sector and industry.

But, I can't get the TableCell or TagContent to work either - not sure why -
I don't usually have trouble with those.

Hmmm. I can get it into the Web Query dialog now too. But when the XMLHTTP
protocol tries to retrieve the web page for the add-in, it gets some
cryptic error message numbers (large negative integers). So if it can't
retrieve the source code of the web page, none of the add-in functions are
going to work.

I wonder if the PHP routine has some way to identify what is going after
the data?

If AdvFN wanted to hamper or eliminate SMFs access to the site there are far
better ways than tweaking the main domain name.

It's more likely they changed to US.advfn..., ran into gripes from people of
all kinds who are not nearly as capable or responsive as Randy and had to
change back.

I hope that's not the case. I have to agree with Mike, though -- there
would be far more effective ways for them to hinder something like the
add-in. I know some foreign users have troubles because AdvFN defaults that
prefix automatically based on their location. The OSV website had to give
users special instructions on how to change the prefix. I wish I had paid
closer attention to those discussions. Maybe their method is more automatic
now.

In any case, I just made the prefix a variable constant at the top of the
routine so it should be easy for anyone to change it as needed:

Const kAdvFNPrefix = "www" ' URL prefix to use for AdvFN

Luckily, I had just finishing redefining a number data elements as well
(using the new process, which made it very easy), so I packaged them into
the update.
