RE: [ExcelVBA] Re: Help required for a difficult macro

Of course, instead of us reinventing the wheel here, Ayaz could always put the data into Microsoft Access, and build/run a query…

This arrived after I sent my previous message.

You appear to be missing the point when you are writing your explanations.

> 1- where col b is blank or - or 0 value in result sheet

This seems to be your most important item for some reason. It is actually
quite trivial, and we do understand this bit. It is the rest of the
requirement that you are failing to explain.

> 2 _ if above condition is met then distribute order
> (EDI # from sheet1 col b as to result sheet) ... in
> result sheet and check qty in sheet1 if order product
> qty less or equal. In less qty it goes to next matching ID
> qty if it is equal or greater then copy this EDI # from
> sheet1 col b to result sheet in col c

But you don't do this!!! Row 4 of the Result sheet wants 2. And the first
entry in Sheet 1 supplies 2. But you went on to the third entry in Sheet 1
to get 2 from A1545's 10. Why?"

> 3 - if first matching qty v b p

What on earth does this mean?

Please stop using your Android. You are abbreviating your words and
shortening your explanation because of the inadequate keyboard, and this is
disrespectful to us.

Please use a computer with a proper keyboard and type a proper and full
explanation. Include specific reference to why specific items are copied
across and not other items.

> I have given example in my sent file in result sheet
> please go through it carefully

No, sorry, it is not up to us to go through it carefully, it is up to YOU to
EXPLAIN it carefully.

Please carefully read www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html before you
go any further. It has links to translations in other languages and will
give you information on how to ask questions properly.

Further I explain it here again
There are 2 sheets one is sheet1 and another is result sheet
Sheet1 is a product database
Result sheet is a query or order sheet of product
By matching ID from result sheet to sheet1, You have to distribute EDI #
from sheet1 to result sheet in col c on following conditions
1- where col b is blank or - or 0 value in result sheet
2 _ if above condition is met then distribute order (EDI # from sheet1 col b
as to result sheet) as I mentioned in my test file in result sheet and
check qty in sheet1 if order product qty less or equal
In less qty it goes to next matching ID qty if it is equal or greater then
copy this EDI # from sheet1 col b to result sheet in col c
I have given example in my sent file in result sheet please go through it
carefully
3 - if first matching qty v b p

Hi
Suggest that you write the logic required as if you were giving directions
to another person who was going to do the process by hand.
Excel is just a tool for implementing such a process, but so is a pencil and
paper. Write for the latter and get surprised by the elegant solution for
the former.
Tim Lewis's posting MAY be such a solution.
